I want to have a site where you have to register to access any content.
So if you are not registered, you are brought to a registration page before you come to the page.

    Will this ruin SEO?
or will Google still pickup the content as if a user is registered?

google will not be able to spider your private pages.

because of this, it will be difficult to get traffic for this types of web sites

I have several sites that have members' only areas that Google has indexed (probably because they're in my sitemap). I'm not sure how it gets through the login "gate" to index them, though.

BTW, Yahoo and MSN seem unable to do this.
