Just wanted to find out if Big G already banned link clouds.

    Has anyone...

    1. bought a backlink from link cloud/word cloud and

    2. actually have that link reflected in Google link search?

Well, I haven't bought any links from link clouds, but if they have the smell of a "link farm" site, Father Google will ban them. Stay away from unhealthy sites. Take the time to get true and honest backlinks.

Didn't you join the Big G Webmaster Tool thingy? Supposedly show where your link juice are coming from.

Having a few PR8's pointing to your site should be sufficient to rise it to PR6, any sign this is happening?

Same here. There are usually too many other links and the juice is watered down anyway. I haven't seen any backlinks from them on any report I've ran either.

It would be great if you could show us one of the links you bought from tagacloud so we could run some backlink reports.

I've never bought a link yet :) - they were the free ones. It tends to show up as 2-3 links as it seems to be indexed in different parts of tagacloud. I'll see if I can show you the linkbacks from tagacloud ...

Link clouds can work but most of them are using expired domains and are basically useless.

here are the backlinks showing in Yahoo site explorer:

    http://uk.search.yahoo.com/siteexplorer/search?p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cybernautix.co.uk&bwm=i&bwmf=u&b=601
    Code (markup):
there a few linkbacks around 625

not strong enough to show up in Google, but there's 3 links there which is all good :)

a link which is going to help your seo must be related to your web site.

do you think that wordcloud sites are related to your site?

I have proof that word clouds do NOT work. :)

Word clouds do not live long since most of them are from expired domains, and once their backlinks start decreasing (this is normal since the backlinks pointed to the former site, not to the new one... when the "linkers" notice the change in the site, they might remove the backlinks), the its PR will go down. :)

I don't subscribe to the view that non-related links are worthless.

I think they have some worth, but not as much as if it's a related site.

blade007: You've got a PR4 with lots of backlinks but I don't see any backlinks from tagacloud in google.

However, you've just given me some hints where to get high PR backlinks.

    Thanks :)

the linkback from tagacloud, freee version, is not strong enough to show in Google. After all, Google only shows the edited highlights of all your links. They showup on Yahoo, which lists practically everything.

But that one link got me 3, does that make sense? At least that's what Yahoo tells me ... because the tag propagates through tagacloud system at various points .. so you might get a PR2, a PR3 and a PR0. To me, that's still good.

Don't think the diluted link juice from tagacloud do you much good. I see some FREE high PR backlinks to your site.

I might put my links there to get some free link juice. Hope spammers don't get there first.
