They do not help site get higher rank. Most have low pr so alot of the edu links do not help.

If you find ones with high pr those will help a little.

One young and non experience "optimiser" put me red mark and left such comments " Spammer! Links from related sites are better then links from .edu or .gov. Even if the related site has a lot less PR. Related links will generate traffic in and of themselves. Unrelated links from fancy domains just generate garbage. Have a nice day"
I never react against such people who name themselve "SEO gury" without knowing ABC in SEO.
First of all, if you do not agree, of course, you have your own opinion, please, let us it know and we discuss it.
Secondly, if you not familiar how domains edu and gov work, gov for other websites, please, ask and DP matters with big experience will answer you
Submission for edu and gov domains do not be made for target traffic or PR increase. PR is not the main index to be your website in top 10. Experience and knowledge help you to understand many things. Sorry for my floud

Thank you everyone for valuable information

EDU and GOV links are only useful because they come from trusted domains. However, you could do just as well by finding relevant links from on edu or gov sites that will probably help out more.

    Subscribing to this thread.

But I do agree that links must always be related.

I have a couple of .GOV and .EDU lists in my signature. I make sure they are auto approved/isntant (rare for .EDUs and .GOVs) and I limit them to 15 copies before I close it off and release a new list to maintain the links' integrity. They are very powerful links and hopefully you enjoy them and the results the provide in search engine rankings.

There are a lot of other methods to get edu, ac.uk and so on links from high pr pages, strictly related to your business. Of course, depends on the niche, but getting links from forums and edu blogs definitely is not the way. ;)

I never appreciated a gov. site. They normally decline our request due to their own rule and a handsome amount of our precious time goes in vain :(

According to my domain SEO for "UglyShingles.com" I need to add backlinks to .edu and .gov web sites. I am new at this SEO stuff, what is the best way for me to do this.

    Thanks
