Hello, From last couple of years we are trying to get listed in DMOZ but unfortunately our site is not getting listed. Is there any DMOZ editor out here who can guide us? Thanks!
dmoz does not accepts most of the web sites and what are their criterias? nobody knows it. i dont think that someone can help you
Is the site in the UK , I have seen that the UK regional part is very very strict , maybe you should try the world categories. Of course if it is the site in the signature it would be hard to be listed in the world categories , there are some editors on the dmoz category of the forum you can write there too.
Thanks for the info I've opened same thread in ODP / DMOZ section. Why its hard to get listed in world categories ?
Even I have been trying a lot to get listed into the dmoz I have been listed into yahoo but dmoz is not accepting my site I have tried my site to get listed from last couple of years but no luck.
I got my blog listed, 2 months after it got launched . Guess i was lucky, people try for years to get in DMOZ, and i do it in a few days
I think the trouble with anything with Open... in the title is that a lot of the people involved in it are basically against anyone who wants to make money. Out of all of my web sites one of which belongs to a registered company and earns me a decent living the only one I have ever got into DMOZ is my personal ham radio hobby site www.g4ilo.com . And I expect that was only successful because the editor for that category is probably another radio ham. Given the fact that DMOZ is so unrepresentative of the sites in its various categories, I don't know why Google still gives it so much importance.
DMOZ is far from random, it's overcome with delinquent editors and favoritism - not to mention unfair business practices (editors not accepting their competitors into directories)... dmozsucks.org basically explains it all in detail
If you have a quality web site, then you should sign up as an editor and edit your category. As long as your site meets criteria and you are fair, you will be allowed to post your own site.
signing up as an editor is even worse than hoping for a site to get added. I was actually an editor for DMOZ in 2000, and one day, my password no longer worked. I contacted an admin and they sent me a password to use. It didnt work, then I contacted them again. They said that I had to re-apply to be an editor. That was over a year ago, I still haven't been contacted...
Everybody asks for a listing in DMOZ, is it really worth? Most of the webmasters do not get their sites listed in DMOZ.
Getting listed on DMOZ now a days is almost impossible. Either the category has no editor or in most cases the ones that have editors they do nothing with the submissions. Sadly enough you want into DMOZ that bad then yes find an editor and fork over the money. I personally do not even bother with DMOZ now.
