I own the domains: StrongestList.com StrongestRank.com And was thinking of making a tool for webmasters & directory owners to gauge the strength of their website. What are your thoughts on use of these domains? Any input is appreciated.
I'm constantly looking for new tools and help on making my sites stronger and better Due to being new at this, I'm not really sure if I could give you an input on what should be in the tools... Good luck and keep me informed if you decide to build it out
Strongestrank would be a nice domain to beat SEOmoz tool.. If you are making a strongest list - go with the other.
Well, what I was originally thinking was compiling a list of the "Strongest Rank"ed directories on StrongestList.com. A connection if you will.
Go with it buddy. Strongest List sounds better to me, Go ahead with the tool all the best for it. Moreover if you are choosing a domain name, see to it you book all Tld's so it if your tools becomes popular it turns a brand with all domains booked under you. Regards, Sunny.
I am interested in that domain. I am currently developing a new tool the tool would only depend upon data from directories rather than from Yahoo,Google, alexa etc.,
I'd also be interested in people wanting to team up to make a reliable tool that can be supported. Or, you can always buy the domain from me.
if you can also make a backlink tracker like which shows all the backlink a site have ... limit to one report a day ..... idc but accurate that would be an awesome tool
I think you'd be better off with a whole new idea rather than trying to rank the "strength" of web directories. Be original. The "strongest list" thing is already being done.
That's another good idea. I'll note that. Does anyone here have the ability to develop these tools? (ie. Programming)
LeopardAt1 << he did dirsensei's live pr tool.. the guy is pretty good at those things... i would go ask in the php forum as most of these will be in php. yeah i thought b/l would be a good idea as there isn't really a very reliable tool out here in the market
I've thought of a tool for directories only. So, it's like a niche tool rather than general tool to evaluate the value of websites. "Directory Strength" sounds catchy Of course, any good alternative to PS would be great. I can give you some inputs if you need.
I personally oppose any suggestion to limit the number of reports per day. It will only hurt the site in the long run. SEOmoz has just realized this simple fact.
If one is relying on his own data then there is no need to limit the queries Seomoz's tool depended upon yahoo, alexa and PR so they limited their queries!
I don't see how you can get away from querying other sources in order to count backlinks. Otherwise you will end up having to spider the entire web in order to build this tool, and who has the money for that? I agree with Lexiseek, there's more call for something original rather than a simple backlink checker. What would be nice would be a tool that can assess freshness (perhaps by checking how recently a page has changed), and the percentage of link-rot (perhaps by spidering two or three random pages). What about the ratio of text to links? In other words, would it be possible to develop a tool that looks for signals of quality other than pure linkage? That would be interesting.
