FreeBitty.com Free Web Host - 5k Hosted Sites

I actually was going to sell the layeredpanel license only, as I would love to keep the domain, however was convinced by other members to sell the whole package.

So here is a brief detail on FreeBitty.com

Currently Hosted Users: Approx 5000 (each have a backlink to www.freebitty.com)

FreeBitty.com is only a couple months old and is already growing steadily everyday.

You have the option of placing an upgrade link on the footer of each site via the admin panel, which will encourage premium sign-ups.

Including the license, site design and modifitications; development costs comes to around $400

The domain name was purchased off a friend for a $250. The name 'bitty' comes from a crazy hit TV Show in the UK called 'Little Britain', the name has the potential to start an underground craze, which is why it is one of my favourite domains.

The site is hosted on a dedicated server ($70/month) and the spec follows as:

AMD Athlon 64
3700+
1 GB DDR400 RAM
2 x 160 GB SATA HDD
100 MBit (unmetered line)


Researching the right dedicated server company is what took the longest (around 2 months), as i feel that softlayer and other American companies are not the best. So i now deal with hetzner.de who have been fantastic to me, brilliant support and their server specs are among the best on the net. I also have a couple more servers with them. I recommend that you rent a server with them if you decide to buy the site.

The great thing about the setup is that there is no way that the server can hold you back, with specs like that you can host as many sites as you want and this gives you a great advantage with earnings as you don't have to worry about upgrades or slow-downs.
As with similar free web hosts, they host with companies like softlayer, layertech, all good server reps, but do not off a true quality service unlike the Germans

The site has the capability of earning AT LEAST $1.5k a month. However I have not yet fully monetized the site.

I have advertised the site on http://www.freewebspace.net/ for one month and www.johnchow.com for 2 months.

As the site does is not yet monetized, I won't put up a price here, but instead am willing to discuss a price via pm that both suits me and the buyer.

 

Where is located this server, and It will be included in price or not?
Maybe have some website where you taked it from and how much it would cost per month?

 

Have you sold any of the upgraded packages? If so, what kind of conversions have you noticed (how many free accounts does it take before you get a paid account)??

 

Ill emailed my server support for a response to your question of the server location. Im not sure if i understand the 2nd part of your post.

I did some testing with affiliates in the first couple of months, and did 2 conversions with hostgator and 1 with easycgi. I didn't keep them up for long as i didn't want to stunt the growth of the site. My plan was to build the site up first, allow people to use the service, then introduce the upgrade option at a later stage.

The upgrade page is still there, but needs some cleaning up, which doesn't do great for conversions.

 

A quick Google search for FreeBitty.com shows a lot of spam sites (probably over 95%). What can be done against this? How many of the 5k hosted sites are real users?

 

Yes, i just looked at a new feature that my panel just updated recently. You can now block by country, as it recommended to block non-english hosted websites. I also spend one hour a week deleting spam websites, by searching accounts for keywords, but i just havn't had the time to do so. you can also prevent sign-ups based on keywords (such as adult, sex etc...)

 

How is the website coded? Is this a buyable script or have you coded it yourselves?

It is a buyable script, which is why i offered it a discount price, but decided to sell the whole package

why does your site use hostgator reviews taken from another site found on google (just search the reviews) but with hostgator replaced with "easy cgi", also your site forwards to easy cgi and all the stats etc are wrong on the upgrades plan

i have been looking at free hosting sites for a while but are you sure you have not been banned from hostgator, every other site has been, if not, how have you avoided it since a free host is against your TOS, so those example sites you give are useless since no-one can now use hostgator if you read the comments on the latest auctions

i am interested in your site though, please send me revenue proof

The license i purchased was $147 from layeredpanel. And am willing to sell it for $140

Take a look and you'll see all free-hosts use the same upgrade account page as it proves well for conversions. Except mine is a bit mucked-up, as i stated in the initial post, that it needs cleaning up.

Have you read host gator's affiliate TOS? Don't think you have

And i can confirm/emphasize that I have not been banned from hostgator.
Reason why I changed to easycgi, is that i got feedback from my clients saying that the $0.99 for the first month offer isn't with signing up for, so that is why i tried easyCGI.
And easyCGI has better prices for conversion. straight up $110 per commersion.

 

100GB of disk space and 1TB of bandwidth for $0.01?
4 "premium users" with that plan would be using all your server's available disk space. Are you overselling or something??

 

premium accounts are hosted with a different hosting company i.e hostgator, easycgi, and they pay you for every customer thats signs up for a plan

 

just wanted to inform you that hostgator has banned all free web hosting accounts. I believe this happened while i was testing with other web hosting affiliates, so I did not realise as hostgator made no effort to contact me.

I do not see this as drawback for the site as it can easily be accommodated with a different web host such as easycgi which actually offer a much higher commission rate, each for the first referrals.
