Best Way to Get Backlinks?

Just write something link worthy. Create good unique content.

 

I heard forum posting doesn't increase your PR and does not count as a backlink.

Does anyone know for sure?

 

Pagerank can effect your serp if you know how to use it - you can reinforce your keyword relevance by structuring your site correctly.

Your site may show pagerank 0 but likely isn't because you must have some external links to be ranked number 2. You can figure out your actual live pagerank by signing into www.g**gle.com/sitemaps. Once you sign up and verify your site there is some some graphs that show how many of your pages are in what pagerank range. low is pr 1-4 and medium is 5-6/7 and high is pr 7/8+. Don't forget the actual pr rankings are on different scale than the bar so seven can be in medium or high depending how strong it is. I don't know why people don't show screenshots from the sitemaps page to show their actual pagerank instead of talking about "expected pagerank."

Not true at all. When I didn't know anything about PR i had some sites that were PR 3/4 and most of the backlinks were from forums.

creating rss feeds and submitting them to rss engines is a great way to get strong backlinks and PR - and I managed to get one of my sites (not in my sig) to PR 5 in less than 3 months and that is all that I had done. I manually submitted the rss feeds - I didn't use a tool. I recently purchased the popular tools and I don't think I am getting the same results.

I'm not 100% sure its the best way to go though, as it seemed to confuse g about what the keywords were and the site didn't see any traffic. I have since done the normal off-site optimization and the site is seeing alot more traffic even though it has dropped to pr3.

Good Question... First make your site link worthy... People should think that your linking back to them should give them some value... Write nice articles, submit them to article sites and social bookmarking sites...

Write a blog, leave trackbacks with worthy commentary.. that is sure to get u noticed and most likely they will link you back sometime or the other

 

Either write articles or just buy article resource box links.

I'm going to expand on my original reply because, apparently, someone did not like it. The response was probably too short and therefore left open to improper interpretation:

Find sites with content related to yours or that get visitors that might also benefit from the content of your site. Send a personalized email to the webmaster, tell a bit about your site, and ASK for a link (nicely).
If done this hundreds of times.. the response-rate is usually low - but it has resulted in many good, high-quality backlinks.

Of course you could go right for the gusto and hit the front-page of Digg - that will get you even more backlinks.. but that's a bit tougher to accomplish..

 

Yes, that sums it up. Just to add to that Press releases are also not bad. And free classifieds like craigslist.

 

Asking for links is fine and will can get some good quality backlinks.

Government and University Procurement pages can be a good source of some high quality backlinks.

Include in your link profile press releases, relevant blog comments, article submissions, and directory links. Authority directory links from sites like yahoo, botw, uncoverthenet.com, avivadirectory.com, site-sift.com, sevenseek.com, goguides.org, and joeant.com are great to have. But be prepared to shell out some bucks.

Building a quality link profile will help you maintain stable rankings.

Reciprocal links are on the way out and can get you penalized for excessive reciprocal linking. Paid links for ranking purposes are like being on crack. When purchasing a paid link the number one question is whether the link will it bring you traffic. Then any link juice that is a bonus.
