Yeah and then you have people from other colors/races bitching that they don't get the ad jobs just as it happens on TV all the time. It's a no win situation.

Funny you say that. That didn't even come to mind until you mentioned it. I don't think it's a racist ad at all.

Doesn't seem racist to me at all.
I too think Intel had nothing to apologize for.

Personally I immediately interpreted it as "black man bowing to white man", rather than runners. The fact that I did is probably a sure sign that it's racist (and I'm quite liberal too).

When i first looked at the ad before reading the thread i didn't even notice the skin colours.. I'm not a racist and i don't see anything wrong with it.

I think if you can see a problem with that ad on a racist level then it's because you are probably a racist yourself..... And I'm probably gonna get flamed big time..

I am wondering if who made the complain. A black guy or a white guy. (my bet is a white guy)

    especially 'being quite liberal'
I think this guy is someone who looks to and finds the racism in anything he can.

Perhaps he does. I don't know. But people shouldn't act like their opinion is the be-all, end-all of things.

To me it's not racist, but I can understand why some people would consider it that way. Maybe we wouldn't have heard anything if the positions were reversed, i.e. a black guy in the middle with white sprinters.

For those of you who can't understand how anyone could find this even slightly racist or offensive, think about the following picture: a white guy standing in the middle with turban-wearing Sikh sprinters. True, this would be unusual, as today most of the top sprinters are black, but by 'exaggerating' the scenario a bit it should help others to see why this could be considered racist.

Mind you, that when I first saw the add I didn't immediately catch why there was so much fuss about it.

My point of view would have been just the same if the sprinters were white and the boss was black. Even if it is not racist, such a big company should consider even small things when making an ad. I just think that not foreseeing this as a possible problem while making the ad is totally unprofessional.

look at the pic and what does it say?
    #1 white guys cant run.
#2 white guys dont work out.
    #3 white guys are whimps.
#4 white guys are soooooo white

    or

    #1 black guys are fit.
    #2 black guys can run.
    #3 black guys work out.
#4 black guys make the company work, if they dont turn up for work, the white guys out of a job :D

    or

who gives a shit, it's using black guys to depict speed and performance would it really have the same impact if it was white guys as runners?
not a chance, it would be a laughing stock. everyone knows white men cant jump :D

Offensive or not, its just plain stupidity to make such an ad. Remember that it is professionals who makes those ads, they know what they are doing.

And in the long run, all publicity is good publicity. People tend to forget the negative stuff and remember the company name.
