I know quite a bit about what went on. I know who has been in the wrong.

hmm after reading this thread which seemed to be getting very long .. i learned the point of view of some and the rest of the pages were just fight ....

Here is my opinion about bidding web directory owners

Do they jack up bids .... well there is always some one ... I dont own a bidding directory so i m not one ... but there are many who don't do it..

Now the idea of bidding directory being gambling and than compared to ebay listing...

    Here is what i think

Bidding directory is no where close to an ebay listing because where is the auction ending date. Let me know because i will only bid on that day, so if you compare to ebay listing .. After 30 days or whatever many days .... ur first spot is sold off ??? [ i think not ]

that was a completely irrelevant point brought up there.

Whether there are some good bidding directories which are here and google hasn't cracked down on them ...

Yeah google wasn't always against adult sites either and paypal wasn't always against gambling. Policies change so no guarantee there.

Is it gambling ?? Very debatable question. Whether a bid directory is a gambling site. NO but the concept of bidding for a link is some what of gambling, but business is gambling ... so no argument there.

You can pay 1000$ for a listing and a site shut down and u loose the $$.... or you can pay 1000$ for the top spot and than get buried because u were outbidded.

Bidding directories in my opinions are to an extent gambling. That would be because you increase your bid to increase your chances of getting a high PR.

Gambling like a poker game, you increase the bid to get the higher chance of winning. There you win money. In bidding directory you win PR Juice for a certain time.

In Poker Game you loose the next hand ... in bidding directory you might get outbidded and won't get the same notice unless u bid again.

Is google cracking down on them ??? NO NOT RIGHT NOW..

Will they ?? Who knows ....

Do bidding directory owners charge for a review or a listing... I am certain many charge for a review and many charge for a listing but you can't really tell unless you read their mind ...

How many here can do that ???

    None

i think thts it from me

I would think that the scrupulous webmasters- the big names in this forum ... would never do that.

Really ? Then I challenge you to spit out and I will let everyone know my side. Stick this in your blank skull you dont know JACK. So the better thing to do is keep your mouth shut as I am keeping mine for the sake of peacefulness.

Thats an advice coming from the BIG GUYS and you know who they are.

    oh please.....

As for google cracking down on bidding directories, why would they? Do we break google guidlines? Are we selling illegal stuff? no...

Rofl, I could hear a pin drop when you posted that thread there popotalk, notice the lack of response when you did. :D I think you've said it all without having to say anything which is good on you, you never named names even though you could so people should shut up or put up. Shut up is the way I'd go btw.

in phplinkbid, the auto approve feature can be disabled, and by default it is disabled when we install phpIB! but then i personally feel that it is lot better if the submitter sees his links live in real time!
but then, am 24 hours online! so when i see links that i can't accept, i remove them and do the refunds!
    easy!:D
