I'd sell as quick as I could, share the money and live off it. I think it's quite greedy to invest the money into more projects.
Because no-one could sensibly spend a million dollars in their life time. Why would you want more money than you could even possibly spend in your entire life?
well, i'm guessing anyone spending millions of dollars in a project isn't just thinking about making money back. If they just wanted money they could put it in the stock market. The whole idea behind business is to create some sort of product that people will want. So I don't see how opening a restaurant, launching a useful website, etc etc is greedy. Especially since you'd be employing people, i'm sure your employees would be quite grateful. Now if you're talking about what should you do with money that you don't intend to use in another project, that's another issue. I mean, every dollar you earn is a dollar that someone else could have had. But the previous owner of that dollar gladly or willingly gave it up in order to get the product or service you provide. So in this respect whoever has made that dollar has more right to do what s/he wants with it more than anyone else. I guess i think it's hard to draw the line where greedy begins, or where sensibly spending your money begins. I mean, is buying a car greedy? there's billions of people who can't afford to own a car. If buying a car isn't greedy, then is buying a multi-million dollar mega-yacht greedy? Why would one be greedy, and not the other? i don't think either are greedy, but what does everyone else think?
If my site is worth a billion. I will not sell for sure. Unless I have something else in mind. You can't win against bill gate's with a billion dollar for sure.
I would sell and use my billion to hire skilled people to find other similar businesses for me. Then I would purchase them and develop them - I did it once right ? I can do it again, especially if the business I just purchased is a goldmine! Then I would give a call to Ebay, Google and Craigslist and tell them: "Here is the deal big boys, I have this and all of you will probably want it, but only one of you will actually get it. How much money can you afford to invest to outbid your "big boys competitors" ? Then I would sell again and start once again from scratch, hire more people and repeat the whole story I guess it wouldn't be so easy in reality, but what the heck? I already made one billion by selling my site to the big boys right ? :d
I would sell and probably intend to retire but, old habits die hard. Some people like myself never feel wealthy. Especially if you have a family or plan on having one in the United States. To support the good life I would definitely get my hands dirty in other investments and projects, not neccessarily because of neccessity but moreso the ego. In order to sustain my lifestyle I would have to continue to make money for my future generations and myself. The End. NOTE: Please don't ask me is a billion dollars not enough because that'll take away from the initial discussion. Thanks.
Sell it and use the funds to keep moving up the proverbial ladder. The next thing. I've got a whole list of em.
