Am I likely to see my traffic jump up as I get on the first page of results for my main keywords? I'm currently at 17 and I'm hoping the traffic will get much better when I reach 10.
no. of traiific also depend on the no. of the searching visitor for that keywords too. like top 10 for 1mils search term may get less traffic than rank 17th of 100mils searh term. if you know what i mean. ^^
Most people don't look at the second page, especially if the first page is filled with relevant results.
Depends on the search volume for your keyword. You can use this tool to help you get an idea of how many people are searching any keyword. So check your keywords out and see.
Strange, my keyphrase is 'magic tricks', which doesn't even rate on that tool, although 'magic trick' is at the top! I wouldn't have thought the popularity of the keyphrase would affect whether there is a jump of traffic moving from 11 to 10, but then I'm no guru.
It depends on alot of things including your site title and description and those of your neighbors in the search engine results. I don't mind being #3 if the site in #1 and 2 spots are crap or just wiki. Assuming that your site title describes what the searchers are looking for - I find that you can expect 10x as much traffic being in spots 8-10 than 11 through 13. I would expect at least 100 times as much traffic being in spots 1-3 than being in spot 18. That is my experience.
If the kw is bringing you some traffic being on page 2, then they will bring you even more once you reach the top 10.
That tool is based on out-dated search information from overture and they put 'magic trick' with 'magic tricks' and even 'trick magic'.
I'm currently at 15 for 'magic tricks', I'm moving up about 2 positions a week. Currently getting around 60 uniques per day from Google organic.
imo the google statistics are sometimes coloured by optimization tools and seo experts monitoring ranks. I personally prefer inventory.overture.com (tempered with common sense to determine the real keywords - as implied by bestoptimized) for competitive keywords that are not popular enough to avoid being exaggerated by position polling.
Not very accurate at all. For example it says 18,168 in just Google alone for "SEO Company" however i got about 30 per month when i was at #5, and i think alot of that was other SEO's checking out the site and not even prospective clients. I've given up on the term as not being worth the effort, and now rank #12 on Google.com and have had 1 hit in the past week.
I have been in the top 10 in google for the keyword nokia , my free server had crashed due to the traffic and I think i may have to move my site to a new hosting service .
