Does Stumbling really make a difference?

    It seems like Digging could, but I'm not convinced that Stumbles matter.

    Your thoughts?

    <edit>

    I also wonder if Stumbling actually increases traffic. I suspect that only increases types of stumbles for those that actually stumbled your site or page, and doesn't really help with general visitors finding your site (via StumbleUpon)

    Both can give a website alot of traffic. The traffic is not high quality and it is hard to make sales. CPA ads might be better.

    It brings traffic, which could result in people linking to you.

    Yes, stumbleupon does make a difference but stumbleupon needs more interaction than digg and del.icio.us.

    For one of my sites stumbleupon is in the top 10 referrers list, but the traffic is low quality and doesn't result in many ad clicks.

    If you want to learn how to get the most out of it, check out the guide at http://www.squidoo.com/stumble-upon/

    Yeah, that's what I found. I've also noticed sudden jumps in traffic from StumbleUpon and then nothing. It seems to be cyclical traffic from Stumble.

    search engine traffic >>>>>> social/web2.0 traffic

    Direct your efforts where the money is IMO.

    I never tried it yet but seems to work if you work systematically on it. So, i'm going to give it a chance.

    I've had varying success with stumble upon. In the past month, it has brought me 2000 uniques on one site, but some of my other sites only got 300 or less, even with the same amount of stumbles per site.

    I'm pretty lucky with stumbleupon, it has been giving me huge traffic daily and if you look at my site stats, you will notice 90% of my traffics are from stumbleupon.

    Stumbling does give traffic, but I find that it isn't organic, at least to my sites. Search engines remain the best quality traffic source, but it's a lot harder to get traffic from them.

    I've had a few big stumbles that resulted in some large one-time traffic surges, but no backlinks that i know of.. CTR on my Adsense or YPN (whatever was on the particular page) was very very low..

    I've also been on the front page of Digg twice.. this resulted in huge, giant surges of traffic that died down over a period of days/weeks, and still gets me around 500 hits per day (it's been almost a year).. Adsense/YPN ctr was also very low.. BUT - with the Diggs, i've gotten hundreds of backlinks and publicity, resulting in hundreds more hits per day still.. almost a year later..

    So, in summary, it's much easier to get Stumbled, but the payoff is very low.. It's much harder to get Dugg, but if you do it has a huge payoff in traffic/links/publicity..
