Now that Barry Bonds is one home run away from the all time record, if you were pitching would you pitch to him or pitch around (or at ) him? I would have pitched around him but today a friend said he'd pitch to him especially since the next three games are at Dodger Stadium. If he got the home run he would have a horrible celebration as the Giants are known as "the hated ones" in LA. The ball would fly out and the boos would rain down.
I was thinking more high and inside like somewhere between his chin and catchers shin guard he wears on his elbow. Hey, aren't you from Australia? Your comment is good, even more impressive if it's coming from NSW or Victoria.
Well, since I'd be a Dodger pitcher, I'd hit him over and over until I got tossed. He'd get hit twice for sure and three times if the UMP was slow. But who cares about Barry. He's used goods. I'm not impressed by the career HR record. But if I were, I'd watch the real king of power--A-Rod. He's a better player too.
I'd pitch to him. If he hits it out of the park, why not be immortalized as the pitcher who he hit it off of?
I just pictured you with a blue mitt with 3 balls in it with Barry being hit by the first one, knocked down by the second, and the third beaning him on the ground as the big old ump is pulling his mask off with a huff to catch his breath. Yeah you'd be famous.
I'd first line up a sponsor and have there logo tattooed on my arm and collect a commission from them every time it was replayed. I think I'd take a sharpie to the mound and autograph it. Or stamp it with the name of a pharma that makes steriods.
Last night when he was intentionally walked in the 8th, even the Dodger fans were booing. I guess people want to see him make or fail getting the next homer or two on his own.
Barry should just juice up a little more for the next game. That way he can bunt one out of the park and be done with it.
Hell, I guess pitchers would be raring to go at him. So that when he hits them out of the park, their names would be enshrined in the record books forever.
