This is not really a great question but I just wondered if there is an average to how many account/websites get hosted on a server on these shared hosting packages you can get?
Which ones are you referring to exactly? Some you can host unlimited sites/domains on a single shared plan for example HostMonster. Or say 10 domains on one plan like Lunarpages. The amount of domains you can host on a these web hosting accounts depends on how much disk space and monthly bandwidth you use. I currently have 7 domains on my Lunarpages account with plenty of resources left. I remember reading a post from a HostMonster user that had something like 23 domains with no problem. I hope I answered your question and that this was helpful to you. Post back or PM if not.
1500-2000 accounts is no good. Industry's normal is 1000-1200 domains on 4 core server with at least 4 GB RAM as they are considered ideal servers. On average its 400-600 accounts.
Thats helpful to know, I don't want to overload my servers and wondered how many accounts I am able to host for people.
It's not about the number of acconuts you can host. You could host 10,000 static (html based) web sites and not even have the server notice them. You could host sites that get 1 visitor a day each and it not be a problem. There is no real rule of thumb here on how many you can host. You play it by ear. Some servers you'll host more sites than others just due to the sites that are on the server. We have some servers approaching a 1000 sites and they're still running under utilized. While we got others that have 400 sites where we would not want to put anymore on.
you mean 1500-2000 Domains number of accounts depends upon how much are you paying and how many resource eating sites server is hosting, as far as perfromance doesnt take a hit numbers dont matter
