My webmaster directory is currently ranked in the top 10 on google for the search term 'webmaster directory', recently my new webmaster blog has achieved similar success for the search term 'webmaster blog' (current rank #3). What should my next step be? to start/open a webmaster forum? Your suggestions and thoughts?
No. I'd say sell links to webmaster websites. There won't be that much traffic for that term, but at least it will be targeted.
Erm... i already sell links to webmaster sites on my webmaster directory... a quick bit of research seems to indicate that the search term 'webmaster forum' is actually quite popular...
The next step is to try to build up more traffic by buying more high quality links and submitting to more directories. You can also write articles which include a signiture link to your webmaster directory. The keywords "web master directory" currently receive 210 searches a month according to the overture keyword research tool. Good luck!
Yer which isnt too amazing but i do get quite a bit of traffic from google - my thinking is if i can get into the top ten for 'webmaster directory' and 'webmaster blog' perhaps i should think/consider starting a webmaster forum and hence try getting a similar rank for that search term. There are a lot more queries for 'webmaster forum'....
Congratulations sabian1982. It's a great achievement. I know it feels good to get that kind of ranking.
I actually run a 1000+ member forum that ranks on page #2 for the term webmaster forum Its a hard term but I have done well so far and only spent a little bit of money. Please dont steal my thunder
The visible text on your site looks ok, not overoptimized, and the keyword density of visible text is ok, but the code is a different story. I would say the reason for your "success" is due to using an image in a multitude of URLs and abusing the purpose of alt tags, i.e., using keywords designed to boost your site and not describing the image for which they were intended and using the words "webmaster directory" twice in about 40 titles. You are maneuvering just below the spam threshhold. Be careful that Google doesn't change it's algorithm.
Go for higher volume terms. My (very reliable) tools tell me that Webmaster blog is search 100 times and webmaster directory is search 460 times per month in Google.
