Interesting... according to the new film called Shooting Michael Moore, Moore himself owns stock from Halliburton, Eli Lilly, Boeing, Sonoco, Xerox, Honeywell, & Lucent! So much for being for the little guy!
Funny....I can't think of one single "great film" he ever made. Silly, misinformative self serving propaganda pieces each and every one from what I've seen.
It is all about the perspective I suppose. What seems like propaganda to one person may be truth for another.
When information is falsely presented as fact then it does make his docs propaganda, although some may believe it's the truth.
You are right; "When information is falsely presented as fact" it is propaganda. Unfortunately my current government is skilled at that.
He is a plumper. I like the questions he asks though. Even if you don't like the questions they make you think.
Michael Moore is a hypocrite, and he is an agent of the system. Its not that I don't agree with a lot of the stuff he talks about, but then he offers no solutions, and he doesn't get to the root of the problems. Also, the fact that he owns stock in these companies shows that he is definitely not what he appears to be. Michael Moore is a corporate shill.
Depends wholly on your definition of "great". He has created several of the most acclaimed and highest grossing documentaries ever made; this fact alone should be enough to consider them "great" in some sense of the word. Besides, he asks the right questions and presents answers that appeal to the sensibilities of the left, which are typically more humane then those of the right - that makes him pretty great in my books Exactly! It's not his job to offer solutions or get to the root of anything. You call him a hypocrite for this, but how many wide-reaching films have you produced? He's done more for the average American then the average American - only an American would argue that logic.
I wonder how many of his people helped with the dis-information of gore's film? It is scary when people will still believe the hype even when confronted with the facts and shown where michael moore made things misleading to make his story look factual. How many people were mad at him for editing their statements to look like they said something they didn't? How many lawsuits were there? It is like the alex jones character making money off of perpetuating and adding too myths knowing there is a certain crowd hungry for what he will produce, not because of research or great skill, but he will tell them what they would like to hear.
That's business, and Michael Moore is in business. He is one of a very few American businessman to have something to say that has a positive effect on people in general - this is unlike the millions of self-important arrogant business people in your country who make millions on the backs of ordinary Americans every day (this includes you). How you could argue with his positive influence is beyond me. We love Michael Moore in Canada, although maybe a little less since Sicko
That he owns stocks gives the people that hate to hear him tell the thruth a chance to take a hit at him. a very cheap hit that is. But it does not change the fact that he has made some great critical acclaimed movies. Then again, super conservative people like some around here never agrees with art/movie critics at all.
He does not have a positive effect on people (referring to Fahrenheit only, since I haven't seen the other films) His film has only caused more people to be confused, believe in lies, and general just made two sides more polar than before. He is a great example of a self-important arrogant businessman, who would do anything for money (including lying to those he used in the movie by making it look like they said things they did not.) I make an honest living. So how am I making money off the backs of others and somehow michael moore doesn't in your eyes?
If you've seen only one of his films then you shouldn't even involve yourself in this debate. Regardless, Fahrenheit 9/11 was a masterpiece that opened many blinded American eyes to the truth about the war in Iraq. He did not say anything in that film that was untrue to the best of my knowledge, and I'm willing to debate those points with you if you know of some specifics. As for my last comment, I was grouping you with the ordinary Americans, not the businessman; I should have been more clear. NOTE: I just watched that trailer and, while I have no idea as to the facts it presents, it certainly doesn't sway my opinion of Moore. If these facts are so true then why did only this obviously underfunded production company pick up the story? Why did they interview less then 10 people (which include several who appeared in Moore's film, his former camera man, and a former friend)?
