It depend. If you want to acknowledge that they have a valid belief i guess you can conduct yourself in whichever manner you see fit. If you found yourself becoming increasingly offended that these people are even allowed to speak about their belief, Let alone vote, I guess you would take a more harsh tone with them.

The only problem with that is I do not get offended by other people's beliefs even though I know that their beliefs are illogical according to the science I have studied and always believed.

If I get offended by what they believe and I don't have capacity to make them believe what I believe and call them idiot, then its make me a frustrated idiot not them.

And in that case I would not go and argue another person only to end up being rude and making a fool out of myself.

Interestingly, in the recent past some gentlemen thought that some poor black people are not entitled to live free, let alone the speak about their beliefs or vote so they enslaved them, killed them, tortured them, and then announced them as 2nd grade lives.

The same way a notorious dictator called Hitler got offended by a certain religion because of their beliefs and considered then scum. He thought they are not entitled to live let alone to speak about their belief or vote so he killed and tortured millions of them.

In the lights of these events I find your point of view very very disturbing..

Equally, These days, Right now, Your son can't join the boy scouts if he is an atheist, In some states you can't hold office or testify in court if you are an atheist. George bush senior said you are the least "american" and shouldn't even be considered a citizen of the united states of america for being an atheist. because of religion, it's illegal for you to buy alcohol, A car or cookware on a sunday in many states.

Reconsider who is taking away rights and freedoms from who.

So if that is wrong then feeling that believers shouldn't be allowed to speak about their beliefs, let alone vote, is wrong too..

I would have no problem if they keep thier mouth shut and stop trying to control what other poeple do. The second they start using thier beliefs as a reason for me to be prevented from doing something, Well, That's when i take offence.

I am annoyed of hearing Bible truths that I already know.
I am annoyed of hearing Bible lies.
I am annoyed of people ringing my bell and waking up the baby.

How does that make you different from any dictator, who wants everyone to keep his/her mouth shut or die, who doesn't believe what he believes ?

You seem to be intentionally misunderstanding. I have no problem with them believing whatever they like. I ask only two things of them. Don't make me have to hear about it and don't try to prevent me doing anything because of your beliefs.

So ask yourself. Who is the dictator? The guy telling them to STFU about their stupid invisible friend or the people preventing your son being a boy scout, The people preventing you holding office or testifying in court and the people passing laws that say we can't buy a beer on sunday?

What if they want the same two things from you? Will you keep your mouth shut?

Of course, If i don't have to hear about their stupid invisible friend or have to change what i do based on something they believe i would have no reason to tell them how primitive, divisive or backwards their belief is.

In the US we use the word "selling" to refer to more than just selling products. Here are a couple definitions from dictionary.com that might be useful:

"to cause to be accepted, esp. generally or widely: to sell an idea to the public."
"to cause or persuade to accept; convince: to sell the voters on a candidate."

    Hope that helps :)

I guess that is why it isn't normally used in reference to religion. This is the first time I ever heard that people were "selling religion door to door"

Very interesting news, I wonder how many atheists didn't know they are not allowed in Boy Scouts. Is someone going to do some house cleaning and kick them all out?

Where are the laws still in effect that don't allow you to buy those things on Sunday? I know there are some legalistic Christians groups out there, but I am not aware of any of those laws that in effect today.

In Georgia they had some strange liquor laws if I remember correctly, such as no alcohol for sale on Sundays, I'm not sure if they have changed them in the last 10 years. Also, most stores were closed on Sunday, which was really annoying.

Also, I have spent some time in Fayetteville NC. If I recall correctly, we could not buy liquor on Sunday, except for on base, where you can buy it 24/7 and 365 days a year.
