Does anyone know why Wordpress won't save my edits? I sign in as admin, go to edit, then add a comma or whatever, press save, but it won't actually save the change. It's like I never did it.
There are a lot of reasons why this happens. How long have you had WordPress installed? Have you updated WordPress lately? Your database could be corrupt as well. Here's what I would do: Create a test post and try to edit it. Go back to your first post and see if you can edit it. If you can then there might be a problem with just that post only (copy it, delete it, and create it again). Start disabling plugins, one at a time, and check to see if you can edit the post after each one. There are other things that could do it, but I would start there. Hopefully it's something simple. There's nothing worse than losing a bunch of work. ~Shannon
Thanks. I don't know what to do... I updated Wordpress. That didn't help. I then disabled all plugins. That didn't help. I then completely deleted Wordpress and reinstalled it via Fantastico. Now on the new Wordpress, I'm having the same problem. Changes are still not being saved. For example, that default "Welcome" post cannot be deleted.
It almost seems like the database user has no rights to modify. I am not talking about the wordpress user but the user attached to the database. Could you check that the db user has all rights. cpanel->mysql->Users in THE NAME OF YOUR DATABASE the_user (Privileges: ALL PRIVILEGES) It should be on All privileges...can you confirm that?
Yes, all privileges are checked. The actual box "all privileges" isn't checked, but all boxes below it are.
Very strange...I have to admit that i have no other idea of what can be wrong. Especialy as it seems to be a server thing and not your wordpress as it also happens on the new install. Is it a shared hosting account and do you have more domains on it? If so is it working there?
it has something to do with the server, i have that problem also on my of my host, and my one host don't allow fsock ( dont know what is the relation) maybe there are other variables that is preventing you to edit it.
