Well I have been flying for about a year now, racking up those flight hours to get my private pilot license. But tommorow is my first flight SOLO. I am so nervous I mean i'm only 15. Tommorow i'll be taking up a Cessna 172 and I am scared OUT OF MY MIND! Please tell me how I can calm my nerves.
Yes. You can start flying at 14 in Britain. I'm not talking Boeing 747's but single engine aircraft yes.
Soloing for the first time, to get a licence you must have at the very least 15 hours solo flight experience and at least 45 hours altogether, before getting your license. I have clocked up 40 hours with my tutor, and I am now starting the solo tommorow. Altogether I want about 60 hours total flight time before I accept my license.
There is nothing wrong with being nervous beforehand. I'm sure once it's show time your experience will kick in and your nerves will calm down. I fly paraglider and have well over 1000 flight and countless hours airtime and I still get butterflies whenever I'm on my way to launch but once the time come to fly it's all good.
I know what you mean. Even now I still get nervous with my tutor. But, I keep thinking, "tommorow I am flying a plane ON MY OWN". But hopefully like you said, my experience will kick in and i'll be up there with no nerves.
I'd bet it will, I'd be more worried for you if you wern't nervous, pilots with no fear are very dangerous.
Haha! I here that saying EVERY time I go down to the airstrip. Thanks buddy, you have really calmed my nerves
No worries, good luck and enjoy the flight, flying solo is the ultimate freedom and you can't beat the view.
Thats why i'm doing it tommorow as we now have nice weather in Britain. I was sheduled to do it last week but I cancelled because of the terrible weather. The view up there is amazing. What altitudes to you fly up to Roman?
Well for me in the plane that I fly, a Cessna 172, I cruise at about 10,000 - 13,000 ft if I was flying to France or Switzerland for example. But tommorow I won't surpass 7,000 - 7,500 ft.
I know I got the students license but ran out of funds to go ahead and get the private pilots license. That's what I soloed in was a 172 and it was windy as hell to. Make sure you wear an old shirt you don't want to keep that day.
I did it baby! Was up there all alone for 2 hours! I have never felt anything like it! It was amazing. And if I do say so myself, I was amazing. Wow!! I am so happy!
Nice mate, well done! I am starting my lessons early next year, but I am still thinking of going to Florida to do it... Had a trial flight and that was great! DD
