1) Blog on a Niche. You don't have to be an expert on that Niche. You just need to be passionate about YOUR Blog. 2) Find a topic which have about 4-5 thousand searches using some tool like the keyword suggestion tool from digital point. 3) Choose a topic which has less competition so that it becomes easier to rank. 4) Learn as much as possible about the topic and update ur blog everyday about what u learnt, in your own words so that the contents are unique. 5) Every blog post should target a particular search phrase or phrases. Bold the phrases within ur content. 6) Start commenting on other blogs, and try to form a bond with those bloggers so that they link to you. In their blogroll. You will start getting PageRank. Once u have decent pagerank from the blog links, you can start exchanging links with other relevant websites or blogs to start ranking in SERP. The blog rolls might not help you rank in SERP but they will sure help in getting a PR, which can be used to exchage links with relevant sites and also to sell Links.. some extra revenue. 7) Start exchanging links with relevant sites. It will easy now since u have a decent PR. 8) Also, keep submitting to Directories to build the PR and some SERP. Submit to directories which accepts deep links also. Wherever u get deep links, try to get links to your blog posts... .... 9) Keep updating these process of commenting on other blogs intelligently, and get new blogroll links. Keep exchanging Links. And keep submitting to free directories. 10) Once u start earning some Adsense+chitika+kontera+link-ads+maybe tribalfusion+feedburner ads revenues, submit ur blog to strong Paid directories like Aviva, Alive, etc etc... with the revenue. Pump back the revenue to ur blog. Submit ur posts whose targeted key phrases have the most Traffic in the deeplinks in the paid directories... As long as you continue this, the money will keep pouring in. Cheers!!!! I do the same in some highly competitive niches, and earn pretty well.. Don't forget to update your blog with relevant post, everyday, and then some more if possible. Hope you find these usefull...
Thanks for the guide. These are very good ideas. You also mentioned, "Every blog post should target a particular search phrase or phrases." When I decide what topic I want to blog about, I normally run the keyword or phrase through the google adwords keyword tool. This tool returns the search volume for the specific keyword and other related keywords. These related keywords can provide a good list of topics to discuss within the post. Also, I would add: 1. Submit site and posts to social bookmarking sites, especially Stumble, Digg, and Netscape 2. Be active in forums that are related to your niche. Add your site to your signature and make relevant posts in the forum. This generates a fair amount of traffic for me and builds relationships with others online in your niche.
Thanks for pointing this Out. I didn't add social bookmarking because I believe in some reader doing the submission. Let the readers decide.. Good to keep as a Habit. I got banned in the initial days of Digg when i submitted all my posts from some blogs . But it is good to submit. Forum signatures are good for promoting something like a directory, but I have never found it to very good in ranking. Too many outbound links IMHO
Simple yet very effective... That is basically how it works, couldnt get any easier. Just takes a little time, thats all.
this thread is very educative and its very simple in its explanation.......many thanks for your post and hope you will keep us posted with usual good work
http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ is a good tool. As for competition, you should just google
I never get that first one. Pick a Niche. IT's not required at all to run a successful blog. I have two, both in the technorati top 10k and they dont have a specific niche.
I think this may help you to pick a niche; http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2007/04/12/pick-the-right-niche/
I also have very general blogs, but it is not everyone's cup of tea to write a general blog. Niche ones are much easier to Promote, and to become an authority on the niche.. And also, much better to target specific keywords.. IMHO
Another way to profit from your blog is create a niche oriented blog that offers reviews of same niche affiliate programs. Then send your subscribers to that blog when you write a new review. You then have a platform to make affiliate sales, and if your blog has adsense you earn that way too.
Excellent post, thanks for the advice! I've been considering starting a blog, this might get me off my lazy bum and get to it!
And once your blog starts... 0. Build more quality content. Atleast 250-300 words per article. Ping using Pingomatic every time you publish a new post. 1. Forget about Adsense until your start getting atleast 100 visitors a day and more than 200 pageviews. 2. Use a unique blog theme. 3. Join Technorati, Mybloglog. 4. Burn your feed throught Feedburner . 5. Join Social Bookmarking websites to get backlinks. 6. Make sure your content is as unique as possible. 7. Get links from Blog directories. And Build relationships with bloggers in your niche. You'll find them in Mybloglog and Technorati. This will help in long run
These are great ideas.. people are selling fluffed up ebooks on blogging that don't say anymore than this thread.
