I see in my clickBooth account I need to send this W8 form http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8ben.pdf
I have never heard about that, what is it ? Do I have to pay tax to IRS in US ?
I'm French, work and live in France and all my revenue taxes are supposed to be paid in France.
Can someone explain me all this ? Also I don't know how to fill it, so if you have an example...

Do other networks require this too ? ClickBank don't ask for this.

Sorry but I think this has nothing to do in this thread. Start another thread if you want, that doesn't answer my question.

Almost all, if not all, networks based in the USA will ask for a W8/W9 before sending payments.

Read instructions for more details. Basically what you're declaring by filling it up is that you are not an US Resident and therefore

Don't worry, you need to full it in so that the networks can do their finances. You don't have to do your taxes in the US, you just need to full it in and sign it and then fax it to the network so that the network has proof that you are earning from them. You then just do your own taxes as usual in your own country.

Thank you for this. I'll try to find more infos to fill it. I am going to set up my own company (the smallest type in France) which is revenue are considered as for individual. So don't known if I have to choose "invidual" or another form of business.

    Thanks

Do I have to do it for every company(I'm Canadian)?

I did filled one with CJ in June. I'm already with oneNetworkDirect(filled an online online form, own by Digital River) on my other sites and I also need one from Regnow(again own by Digital River) for www.1coolfile.com. I want to collect registration with that download site.

    MISsupport,
I think yes, you have to fill a form and send it to each network, the W8 form says to send it to the payer, don't send to IRS.
The instructions for W8 form can be downloaded from here http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw8ben.pdf

I've also found this thread from the AssociatePrograms forum by Googling a little :
    http://www.associateprograms.com/discus/ftopic10707-0-asc-0.html
Here the second post tells you just fill the first part, name adress and for the reference number the account ID for CJ, so I suppose you would put your account ID for any other network.

What's confusing is that there is another post in this same post by "Drewbert". He said that we shouldn't fill a W8-BEN form since this form is required for US sourced income. US sourced income is when the job is done inside the US, NOT when the money is paid from US.

When the work is done in outside the US, even if we rent servers from US companies, our income is foreign sourced.

He's right, Google don't ask us to fill this form for Non US business. They clearly state it on their AdSense tax info page https://www.google.com/adsense/taxinfo and this is also stated in the instructions of The W8-BEN form.

So it seems the affiliate networks are wrong, but if this is the only way to get paid and not paying US taxes, then I suppose we all do it. But that's completely useless since the all informations we give them is our name, address, account ID, which of course are they already have in their database.
