Any Legal Issue Here?

    Well i am thinking of making a peekvid clone script, i want to know is there anything illegal in making the script, i wont be hosting any movies,videos ect i will just be selling the script.

    Please advice.

    You will be ok as long as you dont use their images, code, TM etc.

    As an example look at phpBB, vBulletin, Invision, SMF, Snitz and the list goes on. Same with all the blogging platforms.

    If it was illegal to make a similar script, none of those would exist.

    Just dont make it identical, make it unique in some way. It will make your script stand out and not look like a cheap knock off.

    i made one before and sold it al together to someone now im thinking of making it agian but want to know this time if there is any legal stuff i need to know.

    Reverse engineering is not an issue as long as you dont happen to reverse engineer an element that is patented.

    In all honesty, it is highly unlikely that a methodology in programming will have been patented and the risk is much higher with manufactured goods. Dyson won a fair amount of monies from another vacum manufacturer that reverse engineered their bagless system but effectively recreated a few parts identically.

    You'll be fine, just make sure you give all the front-end components unique names wherever possible and don't take any code from peekvid (obviously).

    Unless there is a patented technique being used then no but programming patents are very few and far between.
