Directories, Forums and the importance of being polite

    1. Because those other users on the forums are our potentail customers.

    2. Because everything that you post on a public forum can be seen by others on the internet, think a little before you post something negative or get caught up in wars that may make you look less desirable to your customers, especially if your representing a company or group of companies.

    3. Because it is essential to put yourself accross as a professional person and let people know that you can deal with them as a customer in a friendly, helpful and calm manner.

    4. Because the directory business is one of those types of businesses that relies on cooperation and working together, no matter how hard that may be for some people to accept.

    5. Because there is already enough animosity in the world to keep us living in dark times for the next thousand years.:)

    6. Because personally i would rather have you as my friend than foe, i would rather work with you as opposed to working against you.

    7. Because we must continue to progress together and while you can do it alone its much more fun and interesting to share the same goals and reach the same heights together.

    8. Because together we stand, Divided we fall.

I could go on, but you get the idea.:)

    Success to all

I also believe in this.. Contact via pm or email if you have any disputes.. Think 100 times before coming open.

There are many who opposes directories.. So we need to show them directories are the best.

    100% correct.

Nice and REQUIRED article for all.

    nice pipes.

Basically, if you act like a QBC member/noob on DP, dont expect to get rich from your directory;)

Thanks for the post. This is a good reminder to all of us. I surely don't like to see a wrong accusation on someone, arguments over small things in this forum.

While corrections and feedback, even a negative one, are so important, there is no reason for anyone to respond emotionally. And when we give our fellow DP member a negative feedback, let it be done in a polite way.

Many of the points apply to all business in general.

All businesses thrive on customers and not the other way round.

Ego and stubbornness have no place in a business. A moment of unprofessional behavior may take away years of repeat business.

I never deal with people who behave rudely or in an unprofessional manner - no matter how attractive their offer is.

Nice post. There is not a single point where any of us can disagree.
I think we need such reminders once in a while.

Pass me your MSN/YIM, I can eat your head when ever I am free ;)

but some are easier to follow in the online enviroment, because you have the time to meditate and sometimes moderate your response.

Yuri, what's with you just posting one liners in all your recent posts? You simply trying to jack up your post count?

I was going to mention that. Being professional, even in a forum post, is sometimes necessary. I like a friendly conversation too, but professional mind is required as long as we do businesses with our directories.

To me, that should make us be more sensitive to what we can post or not. But then even if not much of professionalism, we still should know what courtesy is. I personally want this thread to be sticky ;)

Pssss.. mikey do you know how i can get rich from my free directory ? :D

I have not got any free backlink from anyone, even when i am nice (at times , ok ok rarely i should add i am :p) but still no backlink for free, darn everything comes with a price, being nice gets you nothing for free if someone is thinking of taking that route :D, but mikey i can give u free sitewide link if ur nicer to me than before. :p

Great post to summarize it in few words: don't behave like troll or noob. Even if you don't own directory.
