Should Seniors Drive?

If they're creating such a health hazard, I dont want them on my roads. I dont want to have to check for seniors driving every time I cross a farm market. Im all for equality, but there's a line where equality is eliminated to allow safety.

    No, they can't react quickly.

Werd... the worst is when they're on the 3 or 4 lane freeways, in the fast lane driving 40 mph. I always get stuck. I should just drive at night because most old people can't even see at night on the road.

Old people shouldn't be allowed to drive cars..
Young people shouldn't be allowed to drive cars..
By 2030 hopefully driving cars will be a lot safer experience. Technology should progress enough to remove the idiot driver out of the equation.. Not long to wait so...

Old people shouldn't be allowed to drive because they have no reaction time and most can't see very well at all... this equals a terrible driving situation... let alone their health risks, if they are put into a stressful situation, who isn't to say they are going to have a heart attack and die and take many people with them.

I'm not saying a younger person doesn't take that risk as well, but seriously, there are not near as many young people having heart attacks or strokes behind the wheel.

Now for young people, they should be thoroughly tested and trained before they are allowed to go out on their own. They have quick response times, just not the experience necessary... but that can be fixed, unlike old people driving...

Older folks are just a hazard, especially on highways, it's kind of ridiculous.

I would like to say no but... not ALL of them may be bad drivers.

They should maybe make them do a driving simulation test + examination (test reactions, etc) once they reach a certain age or something... and if they fail then they can't drive anymore.

Unfortunately that won't work everywhere... where I live we have pretty much no public transportation so if they still had a job/hobbies out side the home/wanted to go shopping they would have a really hard time getting around.

My personal belief is that when you reach 70 years of age, you should not be allowed to drive. I have been nearly hit by way too many old dudes lately, which brought me to that conclusion.

Of course, when I'm 70, I wouldn't be very happy about it, but it's better than what's currently going on, and I would (grudgingly) accept it.

My grandma is 70, and actually drives really good. All depends on the person, of course. I do admit most of them should be taken off the road

so she can still see over the steering wheel then  :D:D

I think once you hit 70, they ought to administer driving tests for the elderly!

Some seniors can drive no problems, others have lost the faculties neccesary for safe driving, it should be based on the individual.

They should be given driving tests and if they can pass, they can drive. You can't take away their license based solely on their age!

No, silly Tim. When Vadym said "seniors" he meant people who were 65 and older - not 12th graders! :p

more people are killed by drivers in the 17-25 age group of drivers than any other.

Well i feel the seniors should not be let to drive and instead they should have some drivers. Its a fact that at the age of 70-80 they cant take sudden shock situations.
