I found that google didn't bother to buy a the domain name for adsense.. here is the site http://www.adsense.com/

Domain was registered by them Feb 24, 1997... Google has no right to it. In fact, one could argue they could sue Google for infringing on their trademark.
They were the first to use it, although they may have lost their right to dispute Google's use of it by not objecting earlier (not sure what the time frame is).
yeah .. i did notice google using www.google.com/adsense or something when u log in to ur account ... i wondered why they didnt had that domain or even a subdomain like adsense.google.com or something ... thanks for sharing the link.
Or Google may have negotiated the use of it. We can't really know, though I suppose you could ask the guy at AdSense Consulting. Trademarks are tricky things, especially if they involve business names. You don't automatically get a trademark based on the name of your business. Besides, he may be happy enough the way it is via the "halo effect", i.e. he gets free publicity by having people look for "adsense.com" and then they learn about his business on the way to Google.
I think, Google does not even care about buying additional domains. For them it's enough to use subdomain service.google.com and virtual directory www.google.com/service/. Both subdomain and virtual dir are pointing to the same resource. The same is with adsense. They just have adsense.google.com and www.google.com/adsense/ and it seems to be enough. As for me, I like this polyics. Firs of all maybe because I will always know that some resource really belongs to Google because it's under Google's main domain. As for that adsense.com. They are just lucky guys They've just uckily got probably rather huge additional traffic to their resource. And I think they are not doing their best to get some income from it. For example, it would be a good idea to put there lots of YPN ads, or for example create some porno site And after that contact Google and suggest them to buy the domain. Just an idea, but it might bring nice income. Do you know that Google paid 1M USD for google.cn and google.com.cn?
Shocking to me the owner of adsense.com isn't doing more with that site! He's really missing the boat there. He must get a ton of type-in visits from folks looking for adsense information.
Google has http://www.adwords.com. It also uses subdomains http://adsense.google.com for Adsense and http://adwords.google.com for Adwords.
I just checked out how adsense.com ranked at Alexa. Of course Alexa isn't the most reliable way to estimate traffic, but it gives a general idea. The rank for today was about 59k. I find this amusing: I tried going to google.adsense.com, and it's not a valid subdomain, so it's not as if the webmaster is trying to fool anyone. Do you think that many people actually transpose the URL like that?
Perhaps they first go to adsense.com, then thing "that's odd" and then bung the google on the front in hope
Actually I think if he turned it into an AdSense site after the fact, he would have a much harder time defending his use of that domain. Kind of like www.nissan.com who has held on to the name because he sells computers, whcih has nothing to do with cars
Yeah, it's crazy, the guy is running AN ACTUAL BUSINESS from a website! Who knew you could even DO that?!?!
Well cool - that's a usefull site for me for something I'm working on. But I doubt they get any benefit from the name AdSense
