Okay so i sold something on eBay for $500 i wouldn't get the money credit until i ship the item and i shipped it and now they say they cant credit the money to my account because they made a mistake and took $800 from the buyer and they want me to refund the 300 via western union from my own pocket before i get the money credit wtf is that what about if i don't have the funds i lose the item and the money??????????
This doesn't make sense. Firstly, they could always do partial refund if they took too much money and secondly, they never used western union as far as I know. This does not seems like paypal because as far as I know, payment is usually made after the auction is completed before you ship. Write to Paypal officially because it looks like a phishing mail or something. It just does not make sense.
Yeah, the person you talked to definitely wasn't from PayPal. What would be the point of them using Western Union? Thats definitely some kind scam... and its def not a scam run by PayPal.
Paypal never emails you about this kinda stuff it has to be a scammer using a email that looks like paypals i have had a few of them and i just report them as spam. Why would paypal ask you to use westen union, when paypal is nothink to do with weston union.
I have done well over 5,000 transactions with papal and none of what you describe makes any sense. It makes great sense if you have been scammed.
Are you sure it is really from Paypal ? Nothing that you said actually represents the same Paypal that I know. As far as I know, if you sell something through eBay, your buyer must send you the payment first where the money goes into your account then you send the product. If however, they use eCheck then it may take 7 days to clear. If the buyer over buys then in Paypal, you will have an option to refund in full or in part the amount paid. If they pay using paypal funds, it will be refunded to their paypal balance, if they pay using a credit card, it will be refunded to the credit card. Like I said, you might want to contact Paypal directly and get them to investigate this fraud.
"service@paypal.com" <service@customercaredept.com> thats the email i got it from if i got scammed anyway to stop the shipment
if its email -then ITS SCAM! Does it show up in your account when you login to paypal? BTW: If anyone asks you to send money through western union - its nothing but SCAM
Check the full header of the email and if you are unsure, forward the whole email with header to and have them check.
paypal asking to send customer money specifically via WU makes me eddy is absolutely right.. it would be good if you paste the header here.. blur your ip btw..
Here's the whois info on the customercaredept.com part of the return email address. I would assume that the info is fake consider it says that the registered owner is a bank and the site has a basic cookie cutter theme that hasn't even been updated yet. The email is bonus, forward it to paypal's spoof email. If you use a courier company to deliver such as DHL or Fedex and if they have not reach the payer yet, you can always call them up to stop the shipment. If you use the post office then probably there is nothing really much you can do. Do you see anything in your Paypal account about this transaction ?
I got to agree with everyone else here, that it's a scam. I can spam every single day claiming to be emails from Paypal, but they are not. I don't even open them now, but I have before and it looks identical and points you towards a website that is identical too - I don't know how they do it, but even the URL is identical. So I never visit paypal from and email link even if I get one from paypal confirming a transaction. I open a fresh browser window and get the url from my favorites.
