Every once in a while when I give my sons ( 34 months and 16 months) a bath I'll hop in with them, lately my wife has had a problem with it. What is your take on it?
Assumptions! Assumptions! And yeah, cultural differences aplenty, for example middle Easterners particularly dislike being forced to huddle together naked, being piled on top of each other, being urinated and defecated upon etc. while it's no more than a fraternity initiation ritual for americans.
Personally I never bathed with my kids when they were pre-school and I don't remember my parents bathing with me.
We often bathed or showered with our son when he was little. And we got dressed, changed clothes or whatever with him around- never hid our bodies away. I think it gives a child a sense that bodies are natural, not things to be ashamed of. When he was about 8 we asked a children's psychologist if it was ok to be doing this kind of thing around him, and she said yes, it was fine, until the point where he said he was uncomfortable with it or acted embarassed.
is that something you should discuss ??? i am not sure anyways i dont think theres any problem untill you havent heard about swimming
