I really don't want to turn this into a self promotion bragging post, (although that's exactly what it is ), but my company is finally ranking #1 with our most representative Keyword, that is also the main term for our business Web Marketing. Naturally, we are topping my country's Google (google.pt) market for this search term. http://www.google.pt/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLJ_enPT232PT232&q=web+marketing Our second keyword - Web Design term is also doing well, we are at #3, with Wiki at #1. After so much hard work it doesn't feel as good as it usually does when I achieve the proposed objectives for my clients. I feel a strange anxiety that might have something to do with: From now on, the only change is down! Have any of you felt the same?

Dan!! How are you old friend? As a matter of fact, the structure is still 80% your work! Surprisingly, not as much as I thought it would. (Around 100/150 unique hits a day from the keywords) The IT market in Portugal is highly competitive in regards to the offer, but quite frankly it’s very small in terms of the market share itself. To make matters worse, the market that my companies plays in (Medium sizes/Large companies) represents virtually 0.5% of the market, so we tend to discard most of the business that we generate.
My old standard of work, but getting your header to work the way it does was still a pain in the neck - especially considering how I was working on someone else's site at the same time trying to get everything done by Thanksgiving Day.
Unfortunately Pedro and I can't talk too much about that - business and all (I helped him code the site last year).

Yeah I used to love getting into number one spot, these days I don't even monitor them, I now focus on getting returning visitors and cheap visitors.
its a good feeling if u saw it slowly grow to number 1, but when it starts to drop....its anxiety and panic time!
Do your job and maintain your position. If you will go to sleep once you reach the top predators from your niche will surely not hesitate to come after your prizes
It is a great feeling but the traffic does not always match like you think it would. Congrats on getting there and I hope it helps you out in the future.
Congratulation Pedor, parabens I've also gave up on checking rankings and SEO in general. I basically just create content and wait to see what happens.
