1 and 1 hosting

My partner is using 1 and 1 for some of his sites and wants to look at using them for our clients. I did a bit of research on them and found a lot of unhappy people. Has any one ever used them ?

I use a local host for my site here in MPLS and I have to say I have never had any troubles with them. They are not cheap but very reliable and customer service is A+.

Would love any feed back some of you may have on 1 and 1

I didn't use 1 nad 1 hosting. I used Aplus.net and was happy with them. If your partner is happy with 1 and 1 you can continue using their services...

 

i have heard that there are some issues with 1and1..

are they really cheap or something?

its best to stick to the reputable ones like godaddy,servage,hostgator or ixwebhsosting..

 

Its cheap for sure. Best hosting you can get is from peer1 or interland. they have award winning customer service. for regular sites i will suggest go with godaddy. they are good for the money you pay.
if you are having dedicated server, interland is the best, i use them.

 

I use 1and1. I have the linux hosting with 2 domains. Very cheap and honestly to this day my site has not been down (and I always check my own sites haha)

 

For my ASP based sites I use 1&1's microsoft shared package...

They have short outages (maybe 20-30 mins) every month or two... But other then that, great hosting, good support...

I have a hosting package with them based in the UK.
When things work - all is good.
When things start to go wrong - then the problems start. Telephone and email support are useless. Emails take 2 days to be replied to, and then problems are not always fixed.

Just from my experience, I would avoid hosting with 1and1.

We have six managed servers with 1an1. Excellent service, although I've ben o hold waiting for phone service as long as 5 minutes.

I would recommend them.

 

well i used to have 1and1 but not anymore i canceled my account.
after i canceled they took out 29 $ from my CC then i called them to find out y i was waiting on the phone for about 30 min finally some one comes and asked to fax my bank statement so i did which cost me 3 $ then after a few days they gave me 23$ so i lost 9$ thanks to their hosting.

 

Did you give 30 days notice as stated in their TOS?

If not they are pretty decent to give a refund.

 

NO NO i canceled my account one year before they took this money.
my account was canceled in 2006 may
they took the money like two months ago in like may 07

 

In the future if something like that happens I suggest just doing a chargeback if it's going to cost you money to get it straightened out. They'll think twice about doing that sort of thing when they get hit with a $30 charge back fee by their credit card processor.

 

I used to use 1 and 1, I didn't have any problems with them, and haven't experienced anything dodgy since I moved away from them. I left them because I got free hosting from a friend for a while, and you can't really compete with free

I think any huge company will always have dis-satisfied customers as well as happy ones, and the angry ones are usually more vocal.

 

in pc magazines it showes or declares itself worlds number one web hosting company, but it seems it is not cos of many unhappy peoples all around world. They also dont accept costumers from specific countries. Like me so l wont use them, if they refuse me, l refuse them too, l have a reason.

Exactly, and most times there is another side to the story.

I remember PayPal had a horrible rep because they froze accounts. I made many inquiries to the various complaintants in the forums and never got a straight story about their activities that may have caused the problem.

 

I have used 1and1 for my websites as well as for other needs of my clients.

They are cheap, but you get what you paid for.

My friend used to have a managed server with them, in the UK. It started working well but the support wasnt up to scratch, so we cancelled, but they still took some money from us.

But like others have already said here, people tend to inform others when bad things happen, but do not usually share good views with most, so you are most likely going to hear mainly the bad ones.

 

i use 1and1 and i like it.
its affordable.
my sites dont make that much money.
so affodability is key.
