    Hi
Now experts , experienced, skilled webmasters , seo are saying PS tool is just a crap . All over the internet Jeff list is considered a guide for submission to quality web directories.

I think there no point to list directories in Jeff's (Aviva) stongest directroy based on the Page Strength.

Its time to find new realiable ways, paremeters to build the list.

Hi experts , I would request to post your opinion , ideas, suggestions for parameters or methodoloy to prepare a recommeded directory list.

Parameters used by PS tool are great if it works correctly.
So make an accurate PS tool :)

I think the list (Aviva) has some great directories listed however it’s always worth having a close look at the directory and the category that you are looking to be listed in.

Take into account the number of listings on the page that you are going to be listed on. I have seen some great directories that limit the number of listings to a maximum of say 20 with great PR; others may have the same PR and maybe 50+ links.

A couple of rules that I follow when paying a high review fee is….

Is the directory run by a trusted member and well promoted.
Does the category where my listing is going to be placed offer good value and not overloaded with listings.

If I feel that the answer to the above is yes then I hit the submit button.

    Thanks Brian

    I totally agree with Brian.

Emphassis on looking at the directory and researching it thoroughly cannot be made high enough.

These days it is all too easy for people to make lists of this directory and that directory.

Yes, these can somewhat be valuable. However, the way I see it is research and see what the directory exactly has to offer you when you are ready to submit to it.

Where will you be listed. What pagerank will you get from the directory. Is the directory found high enough in Google's search results for your website to benefit. How close to the homepage can you get a link. What will you have pay for the link etc etc.

This is the list you should all be using, not long lists of directories that are strong, free, paid or whatever.

PS tool considers lot of factors which really have nothing to do with classifying strong sites/directories.

And even those factors are not considered by Google and made clear that point several times by Matt Cutts.

Though PS is good marketing tool you can tell others ... I have PS7 even if you don't have PR7. You can advertise higher number of PR and PS. :D:D

Totally agree, for example they take alexa into consideration :D, thats just one reason why its not reliable and nothing to do with Serps etc. Hopefully the project we are working with goes through well. :p

Is the directory going to be around in five years time? Is the directory viable? This is the question you should be asking and here you have to rely on common sense. I would be very careful of high PR directories. Most of them are treading on thin ice.

i think so here human can play a best roll. Recomend pagerank & directory quality.
i mean we should not include any pr4,pr6 site which is made on drop domain. Secondly we should remember that directories are going to help in pr not ps.
people send their sites in directories for page rank & for back link.
    so pagerake + dir quality.

Well, so far I have only found about 4 general directories that without questions are the best.

We need a list that is "unbiased" and it's updated constantly. If you can include these two factors in the equation, I believe we can have a reliable list.

Something like: The Top 100 General Directories.

You will find that after each spot the difference is extremely close. Good luck with the list and hope someone can find a magic trick to make such a list.
