Daaaang. For those of you who don't do it, you need too. I just started this blog a few hours ago and put the link to it in some wikipedia articles with similar content and I'm up to 40 views, and their actually viewing my content.

    Not big articles either.

    Which blog?
And the links from wiki will be removed as soon as a moderator sees them.

Yep, they will definitely not last long. Hope you are monetizing your traffic while it lasts.

Well they removed it on one, but that was only because the article had almost nothing to do with my site :-P

I have my link up on four other articles, and I have gotten 150 views overnight

My best results with wikipedia were for a page I created with some original research. I drew out some statistics from a big, freely available database, made some conclusions, and cited that in several very related wikipedia pages. Been there almost a year, thousands of page views ... about 1900 so far this month.

Wikipedia does not tolerate spam. Some moderators won't even tolerate links to quality pages. Just the way it is. Several of my links that are very suitable according to the guidelines are taken out as soon as they are put in.

I'm going to have to try this with a site I'm working on. Who knows they might actually keep the link (it's not a blog).

Not effective for catching visitors for long time. Consider for short term.

I'm surprised it took a month for some links to be removed. It usually takes no more than 3, maybe 4 days.

I posted a link to an advertising page once, mainly because the article was marked as unreferenced (also the traffic would be nice too). Because it was in as a reference it stayed up for about two weeks. Now the article is marked as unreferenced again.

I've linked to articles, but they are researched, and they have not been taken down. Traffic isn't great, though.

if you have a reputable site, and others ad your links to wiki, they tend to stay.

I have a site that has about 5 links from wiki, only providing a small amount of traffic a day, but they have remained for some time now.

I have had links up on wikipedia for a few months now with no removing. I run a magazine that has become a pretty reputable source and made a wikipedia page for the magazine so they keep up everything as long as you do it right and dont just make it look like flat out advertising

Will they delete links to sites providing quality free stuff that happens to have a small for profit link?
