8 years to save our life and future!

I just read something really awful:

According to all scientific reports about global warming, our energy usage and the environment we have 8 years on us to cut down on our massive energy and fossil usage. Otherwise the global temperature will rise above 2 degrees and there will be no turning back from the planet reaching a global 6 degree increase at the end of 2100. If we reach 6 degrees there will be no life on planet earth…

If we don't stop the global temperatures to rise above 2 degrees and reach for example 3 degrees the Amazonas will burn down, western USA will be turned into a desert, Southern Europe will be un-liveable, Greenland will melt causing the sea levels to rise extremely and flood New York and other coastal cities etc etc...

A really good book about this subject: http://www.marklynas.org/sixdegrees

We will as a race die when we reach an 6 degree increase in global temperatures. If we don't stop our massive usage of fossil fuels in less than 8 years we will reach an 6 degree increase in global temperatures around year 2100.

    1. What do you mean all scientific reports? Do you want me to point you to 200 of them that contradict this claim?

    2. Just because someone claims to have invented "internets" doesn't automatically makes him a scientist

Back during the 1970s, scientists were talking about a global cooling period, even a new ice age. Today, it is global warming. Earth's temperatures are always fluctuating and scientists are constantly monitoring their predictions based on new data.

You can worry about these things or simply choose to live your life to its fullest.

Give it a year or two and the models will change once again.

All you global warming deniers out there, please show mee proof that I and thousands of other scientists are wrong. Show me!

Global warming is a fact and it has nothing to do with natural process or whatever you want to believe it is.

This is the first time someone here on DP claimed to be a scientist in the same category as those who are proclaiming the great god of global warming.

Not denying that you could be, but sure will have to question the authenticity of the claim.

Also, in what field do you specialize? In what way have you played a personal role in the research of global warming? Why is this the coolest summer I have ever experienced where I have lived the last 15 years?

I highly doubt that s/he is a scientist..

s/he failed to realize that if Greenland and North pole melts, it will lower the Salt level in Atlantic, causing the fresh water streams to change. That will result in major shift in atmospheric pressure eventually causing a climate shift and vital drop in temperature in entire northern hemisphere. There wont be rise in temperature but a critical drop. so ultimately Amazon will not burn down but will be a lot cooler and we will be facing another ICE age...

It's much like the yahoo message boards. Every time there was a story about people with horns in their feet or something; suddenly, everyone had horns in their feet.

lorien1973, you are a well known global warming denyer...

When did I say I was a scientist?

The scientists don't think the melting of Greenland and the North Pole will have a cooling effect on our temperature or create a new ice age. When Greenland and the North Pole melts we rather need to worry about rising sea levels.

    Remember this:
Unless you have a poor aptitude at grammar, you clearly claim it here. If you do not know sentence structure; it really doesn't help the other parts of your argument ;)

    Yes, thats obvious, innit?

But I wonder how they failed to see what effects would the fresh water cause on water streams, temperature of Atlantic ocean, and the low and high pressure balance over Atlantic. I wonder what kind of scientists they would be if they failed to realize this...

The reason Democrats promote global warming/fossil fuel connection is so that they can sell us new tax.
Like with any problem, solution is always to send more money to the goberment. Be it environment, education, or terrism, just send us more $$ and we'll take care of it. They never do of course, but we buy into it every time

I totally agree. I live in Arizona, so I know a thing about global warming. And this summer is less hot than last years.
