How to page rank for category pages

    I am building a directory and will be launching it by August 15th. I want to know how directories get page rank for their category pages.

    Your help will be much appreciated.

    Its a long process and possibly one of the most helpful ways would be to read the sticky at the top of this category which contains lots of information that is necessary in building a Directory :)

    In the simplest of terms 'your categories get link juice off your index page'

    You'll find some directories even achieve PR on the listing/detail pages...

    So what about other directory owners. Do they use the home page pr and get a share of it in their category pages. Or there is any other way they build back links for category pages

    There are Two ways to do that ?

    Submit or do link building for inner category pages...
    Categories get PR from Index page.

    buying direct links to the category pages will give it strong PR.

    If your main page gets PR6, most category pages will get PR5, and those beneath that will get PR4.

    Unless you have loads of cats., the PR juice wont flow as nicely.

    Directory category pages are really no different than inner pages of any website. SEO works the same, it just might be a bit harder to get backlinks to them.
