just have opened my mail inbox and figured an email asking to send my quote in us dollar or euros for the name ukvidz.com. they want to resell the domain at higher price!

as im not familier getting offers and this is my first auction...i guess he is asking for a price for the domain right?

i have listed the domain on sedo for 200 euros. and i dont have any idea how did they figured my domain (most probably by whois search) but they sound interested right? should i reply them the exact price i have listed on sedo? or i should increase or decrease the value? just dont wanna sell it cheap and die for the mistake later :D
    thnx for helping me out.

Change your Sedo listing to offer based and direct them to the page. Tell them to start out at $150. As soon as your get their offer... turn it into an auction.

Well try at a nice round number like 200 euros then I'm sure they'll adjust their offer accordingly.

Don't panic, there is not much that can go wrong if you use sedo. Tell them to make an offer there, than turn it into an auction (you'll get that option once the buyer makes the offer).

If the deal goes through they will have to pay to sedo first, and once that is confirmed you'll make the transfer and sedo will pay you.

If they ask you to pay for an apperisal of this domain at some appreisal company simply don't do it, it's probably just a scam to get you to pay for appreisal at that certain company.

What you have just described here is your typical appraisal scammer. They will want you to get an appraisal from a company that they have recommended in a particular forum, then disappear forever after you've paid for the appraisal. They will never buy your name.

I had an e-mail from a scammer. Luckily it was obvious because he said he'd pay $15,000 for joecalzaghe.info if I had an appraisal and it was valued at such a fugure. I replied that I wasn't willing to pay to appraise my domain but would accept his offer. No prizes for guessing what happened next. You're right - nothing :D

To the OP. Always insist that bids are done via Sedo. Best of luck selling your domain:)

If you could forward the email to me via PM I can take a look.

There are many scammers out there. What happens these scammers own or are affiliated with paid appraisal services.

So I pretend to be interested in your name and then suggest you visit myappraisalsite.com to get it appraised.

You pay that site money and then return with a certificate or amount or whatever.

The scammer really doesn't care about the name they just want you to get it appraised. This scam is repeated tons of times to quickly make the scammer money.

Be careful when you get emails that are interested in your name.

I think you've done the right thing by having the auction at Sedo at least.

Don't proceed if they request or suggest any kind of appraisal of your name.

They don't usually ask you for an appraisal until you reply to them showing interest in their offer. This type of email scam is going on all the time I personally have had a number of these. You will get to recognise them in time as they all have a similar "ring" to them. You did the right thing asking other forum members about their opinions before you got stung.

It might be a scam where they try to make you to pay for the domain appraisal, and they earn commission. Initially they are so interested in your domain, then they make you to do and pay for the appraisal as without they can't buy, and once you do it they tell you that their buyer bough a big portfolio and really wants to buy this domain, but in 1 or 2 months- underlying thing is that after that time, even if you are aware it was a scam, you can't file any claim e.g with PayPal. If they get you to the point of buying the appraisal, then they push you to list the domain for sale on their scam website 'to keep the transaction safe'.

The bottom line is that if the buyer is so interested that they want to buy your domain, they should do the appraisal themselves to ensure how much the deal is worth and to have the stand line for any negotiations.
