Im a big sports fan and go to a lot of sports forums that have a lot of traffic. I was thinking of making up a Banner for a Vertical Jump program that doesn't offer Banners for there affiliates and placing the Banner on the Sports forum. Has anyone here had success with placing Banners on popular discussion forums. Weather it's sports ,music ,or any other type of discussion forum?
A former colleague did some experimenting and claims to have wasted lots of time and money. He said in hindsight, he wasn't selective enough on where he chose to place them. Sounds like you're being particular, so you're probably on the right track.
Im thinking about experimenting with a Banner ad on realgm.com a popular NBA Website for a Vertical Jump program. My only concern is ,there are a lot of youngsters on that forum.
Ad banners can be very effective. Make sure that the banner ad is eye-catching with some animation if it is allowed. I have had successes with banner ad campaigns but never experimented on a forum.
Yes, banners do work well, but I have never tried them on forums. It's a good point to make them bright, animate if possible and make them complement your brand. Maybe try one out on a small scale before you spend your entire budget.
Can you name the industries you have successfully reached with banner advertising? How do you decide where to banner advertise? I am not a fan of rotating banners because I am not 100% sure that we have had the amount of impressions that the company has said we did. I ran an unsuccessful banner advertisement with very low CTR. Not sure it was the banner, our site, or their site. Suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you,
It depends on the quality of your banner, though it seems that people are trained to just ignore them.
With a vertical jump program (I'm guessing that's what you're trying to market given your post ) younger audiences might actually be a better target than older. I know that my younger nephews who play basketball are always trying to improve their jump; I know I tried to do that in middle school, as well.
I was thinking of placing a Banner on realgm.com for Vertical jump programs They have a lot of young members on the forum. Im looking for a forum where the ages are 16 to 25 in that range. When your a athlete, especially one that plays a lot of basketball ,your always going to want to improve your jumping ability as long as your playing. Weather your 15 or 22.
Banner ads have big exposure and it is more visible to visitors. Having a eye catching banner which will in some way build "trust" on the first impact of visitors eye and placed in web site that shares or talks on the same topic can be very effective. Of course having a sports banner on a pXrn adult site it won't drive to you the traffic you expect (just to make the idea).
When using them with forums, it is imperative that you rotate the banners with a script that does this for you. People become "ad blind" often. One neat little trick is to have an interactive flash game or similar come up as well. It doesn't pay financial rewards, but it will keep your visitors looking there for new games. Then when a flashing banner comes up, they will instinctively click on it.
