Hi Guys I am hoping to start up a free dating website similar to plentyoffish: with a rating system, user config of profiles and filtering of profiles. you know what i mean. I have no knowledge of web design so I am hoping to get a free lancer to get it set up for me to run or bring a web design partner on board. So I need to know where is the best place to find such people, and what kind of skill sets should I be looking for in that person. - I live in London so would be best if the other person lives near me too Any ideas will be much appreciated. Thank you very much for reading. Yippy
Dp is the best place to get your ideal partner for this kind of job. You have landed at the right place mate. To run this dream project you need to be well organised + web designing skill + development skill set.
Hi Yippy, please check my signature.. Next week I start the official sale of the Plentyoffish clone. It's a perfect clone with some extra features in a web 2.0 interface
I'd be surprised if the clone software would have the same effect as the Plenty of Fish system. The founder's success is based on the fact that his site's completely automated. He works from his apartment with zero employees. If this clone software can do the same, then pilar outsmarted numerous large companies with major budgets and resources that couldn't figure out how to emulate Plenty of Fish.
No clone can have the same success like the original one. Why? Just because the software alone is not the key to the success.
Well at least you're not cloning the crappy layout Yippy, you can get some free social networking/dating scripts quite easily. I've got a list at http://www.makewickedmoney.com/social-networking-websites Check them out and tell me what you think
No need to pay for it. Look at http://www.boonex.com/products/dolphin/ It's open source, so you can start with an existing code base (and different looks) and then when you're generating enough income, get a designer to create a new "look" that's exclusively yours. Dating sites aren't easy, though. I have a client that has two of them and spends quite a lot per month on advertising (your jaw would drop if you knew how much). Your mileage may vary.
Yeah I already got Dolphin (and three other apps) at http://www.makewickedmoney.com/social-networking-websites
You need to have the following skills to be successful with any web venture (or have a lot of money to pay persons having these skills...): - programming - design - little server administration - marketing and seo - english I am sure I forgot something but I think these are the main skills that are needed. POF and OneLoveNet.com free dating & singles site (my site) are successfull because the owners have the above skills. You don't have to be an expert on these skills but need to have a minimal knowledge and know where to ask if you have any question. Although... OneLoveNet.com can not be compared in traffic with POF, I am not complaining.
