I just noticed banless watching this thread. index-it is another web directory that provides real traffic. CReed, will get back with you on King Bloom. Will access my stats lateron and take a look. Mike
I just opened the thread ready to help with RAND function for MySQL. Now I'm dissapointed. I can't find any reason to spend my time here on useless talking...
That is because you do not have the ability to analyze things and are dependant on what others put out there for you to follow.
If you're doing a paid submission, simply do some research on that directory. Such as checking for... • backlinks • PR • SE bans • Alexa rank • PageStrength • quality ...etc If the directory is free, then just submit blindly. You have nothing to lose, but something to gain. Just my 2 cents.
Oh, how I miss the days when a few hundred links from crappy free directories (all with the same anchor text and description) were all that were needed for even moderately competitive keywords. That was only less than a year ago.
1) PR does NOT mean the listing will benefit you. 2) Alexa is easy to be abused. 3) Pagestrength awards high numbers to the same directories Rand dissed. 4) No, you should never submit blindly since there are far too many indicators that a high percentage of backlinks coming from crap sites can indeed hurt.
Agree but I believe the way forward is to advance directories to provide more client focused and based services and features This will then ensure that small sites when they submit Reviews will get a raft of value added features and additional Review reference points As rank is your primary goal I know a number of sites that have numerous secondary and primary pages apart from the Review Listing Page that will assist clients in getting more indexing on the SE's for their site A simple feature on a high traffic site will work wonders for a small site looking for indexing We have been testing for the last 49 days one new feature and to date from G that has brought in 3726 Unique Visitors to one page, and the page had to spidered etc before the traffic started to flow (small figures sure but for 1 page all part of building a matrix of traffic and indexing opportunities) Review Clients and Traffic should be the No1 focus that Directories focus on and that means a variety of options and services, all said and done the algorithm on the SERP's changes daily Therefore I believe that the Directories have to move too to more flexibility and more service based features and options
Hey, what kind of traffic does ur site get on a monthly basis? Have u noticed ur quantcast ratings? http://www.quantcast.com/forplex.com If u get like 1000s of visitors, u should do the quantified thing like I did. Will give ur site better exposure.
I do see many such directories in many niches, but the problem with pretty much all of them is that they are structured so as not to pass any link weight. I've found the odd one that might pass weight but very few. These types of directories are attempting to A) be the site that attracts the search traffic the small biz site is hoping to attract and B) structure themselves to either sell mediocre leads or just try to be the traffic hog in that niche and demand a high price for a listing that might send some traffic but not pass any link juice. Some times these types of dirs are really great and do send lots of great traffic, depending on how saturated that niche is with such directories, and the particular niche. But other niches are heavily populated with low quality/over priced versions of those types of directories.
adnan Oh great link but we get more visitors in 15 minutes than that site gets in 1 month But 1 more reference point for us do you want a full time job
It all takes time and yes agree 100% with Quote But other niches are heavily populated with low quality/over priced versions of those types of directories The low quality/over priced versions will get downsized but it all takes time for cream to rise to the top of the milk
What u mean to tell me ur directory is busier then quantcast? I kinda find that hard to believe. Sorry, don't need a job at the moment, we already got enough work at the moment.
