Directory Owners VS. SEOMOZ/Rand Fishkin - My answer to him

Hello friends--
All of you know how Mr. Rand Fishkin has beenhaving a tirade/personal vendetta agains web directories for some time now -- all without valid reasons and his views on useless ness of web directories defies all sensible logic.

He has nothing to support his claims why web directories are waste of time and useless while Matt Cuts and Google recommends webmasters --to submit to quality and relevant directories. It is nothing but a personal WAR.

If he wants a WAR - I have started a war of logic against him and tried to explain why web directories are so important and why SEOMOZ is a useless site taking up web space because it is run by a frustrated man who can't put his client's sites against so many of you --who are --no doubt better SEO than him..

He has targetted us --the whole directory industry -- and I think it is time and stand up to be counted and noticed.

Please read my answer to him -- and if you think the answer carries wieght --please digg it or vote on Netscape so that --many other people on the web know how SEOMOZ s.....ks.

( I am sorry - I could not add Digg/Netscape button as my coder is not online --but I have given links of the story I submitted)

Please contribute and defend your community --we can Digg/we can Stumble --to show the internet how great web directories are. It is not only SEOMOZ who know how to BLOG-- at the expense of others--let us show them --that --we too know how to stand up. We are big enough industry to stir up the web.

Yes you are right,the 1000's of quality directories together will offer more quality results than Google

I suppose "the 10 minutes and $20" will fit into his pocket quite well...

Let us show -we are not bad at his own game by DIGGING and stumbling. I am going to V7N --to post about it.

Please --spread the post everywhere --on the web --if you think it is worth and it bears logic.

Well done. I've tagged it.

 

I guess I am not happy about Rand's rather negative post on directories even though there were "few" sound advices.

Overall, whatever he says could affect a lot out there as many people read his blog. I'm more disappointed in his lack of explanation of his view. I took it as a personal opinion with no concrete proofs, nothing more.

Thank you too. We must get united as an industry and must assert ourselves as a force to reckon with. I think it is the right time to do it.

How could he provide any explaination? Remember - he has been labelled as QBC and QBC don't have any explaination --only run after $$$.

Dugged!!! I loved reading it and the more i kept on reading the more i felt the same about Rand as what others are feeling now!!! though his post made a noob like me into some serious thinking!!!

 

Well the reason could be, that he would like the average webmaster to use his services instead of submitting to directories, both for traffic and SERPs.

Directories & other seo related gigs out there are sort of a direct competition to the services which he provides.

So he's watching out for his interest. The way it goes in business, is u win either

1) If your a bigger fish then your opponent.

2) If you got something to offer which your opponent doesn't.

 

This Rand guy appears out of thin air on DP a couple of months ago with his pagestrength tool that fails to work properly, (even though I liked the idea) does not offer a refund to anyone who purchased it seen as it still fails to pull certain crucial data, and ridicules directory owners by saying most directorys are worthless in his blog, I think this could be a long Rand bashing thread....

 

We should dump his PageStrength Tool, if even a worthless site like avivadirectory gets a PS7....

 

I was really wondering about this, too. But I also believe that directory people on DP are part of what has made this tool so popular. It has never been reliable. It's been used and spammed as a selling point, just like Alexa.
It's funny to now see so many people here go against something that should have never been used, worshipped and made popular in the first place.

But then again, in this section of DP talking sense is not popular. It's all about selling imaginary value.
