Uncover The Net - The Net's Top Directory?

According to their site & advertising they receive 2,000,000+ visitors a month. I imagine that must equate to 5,000,000 - 6,000,000 searches. I have a few old listings there and haven't received more than a handful of visitors during the entire life of the listings.

I've noticed they do quite a bit of PPC advertising but really wonder if they are indeed getting more than 2 million visitors a month what are those people clicking on?

Any other directories out there claiming they get millions of visitors a month?

Gii Web Directory is almost having 10 times less than what they claim.
Back to the point i dont see any legit proof of what they advertise.

That's an entirely different subject:) If you click the site link you'll see that claim is on the UTN site as well.

I'm just curious if there are other directories that receive more than 2 million visitors a month. I'd be willing to venture that for a directory, 2 million + visitors per month is not an easy level to get to within 3 years. If my memory is correct, UTN launched in 04'.

    Obviously they are faking ;)

Gii Web Directory last month recieved 110000 Uniques just from google and i can say its 95% traffic sender to me.

Does UTN get traffic from myspace, emails or adwords?

There are actually quite a few errors on the website...that's not really an indicator of traffic levels though.

They should be the indicators because the more traffic a site has, the more revenue it makes and more people work on the website to handle different departments.
Now if they have 66666visitors/day that is 2777/hour or 46 uniques every minute hence a responsible webmaster would work on enhancing his website better rather than adjusting his adwords campaigns ;)

For all we know those errors could have started an hour ago. I'm not saying that's the case, just that it could be. I've worked on sites that receive millions of visitors per month and sometimes things just went wrong and section of the site were "broke" until a developer could get in and take a look at it.

If it's not directly impacting revenue (which at least one of the UTN errors is - I was going to sign up and test their ad system - I can't - they lost revenue) it tends to fall down the priority list.

No, no directory projects for me. I worked on 1 for about 1/2 hour a year ago and got bored:D An AdWords ad caught my eye and it happened to be about a directory. I had never seen a directory claim 2 million+ visitors a month. I have some listings there and just found this particular case to be interesting. I thought about putting this post in the AdWords forum but figured it really more about the directory and it's traffic claim than it was about AdWords.

I can see it - heck, I could probably do it on the AdWords side for a few cents a click:) Looking at how the site is monetized though I really doubt you could pay for 2 million visitors and still turn a profit on the other side. I think the G' ban dates back to 05' sometime.

I just really don't know crap about directories and how much traffic they get. Big numbers always get my attention.

There is at least one UK only directory that gets 1.5 million users ever month

    An yes, i believe them

Joeant recieves about 1 million visitors per month, an I have good reason to believe them

I guess all these things depend on what you seek
