You could always buy SeaLand.. I think they are still for sale for 65Million.. Pirate Bay backed out of the sale, so as far as I know, it is still for sale..
WOW! It took 352 posts for someone to realize this. It's the place to be. I'm thinking of retiring there. Well not retiring but technically retiring to get my pensionado citizenship... Great place great telecommunications, drinking water, good infastructure. Finally do what i love most. Making money online and shooting low scores on the golf course. VIsited 2X Playa Blanca is really nice. SO is Decameron right next door.
Anybody else read all this info? I feel really bad for this guy. He made some serious mistakes which anyone could but he got burned by trusting the right people. It's not smart to act flashy or rich in 3rd world countries. Leave your ego at the door and look like a tourist; preferably a poorer one.
I am also interested in moving to another country. We're thinking possible the south of France or somewhere near Paris. The UK, Italy, and Germany are also possibilities.
I asked my kid where he would like to live. Here are his suggestions: The Island of Sodor Wonka's Chocolate Factory
I concur! At some point in the next few decades, Cuba will free itself of the shackles of socialism and their economy, environment, and overall quality of life will skyrocket. Those people who get in on the ground floor of that will reap significant benefits. Even with the recent elections, the Canadian government is still far too fascist for my comfort. Taxes are high and rights are low. I'm not just talking about their Nazi-esque gun confiscations either, nor just their legislation against private medical practice -- their limitations on freedom of speech are appalling. If I were single, I would consider Dubai or Morocco or some of the other Arab states -- for a few years. As it is, the wife would divorce me for such a stunt. I've thought about that. I know the ex-CIO of Sealand and we've discussed some business ideas. Unfortunately, Sealand is both overpriced and above my budget. Plus, the shopping there sucks. Those are all high-tax and low-freedom zones. I hear that Mordor is for sale, after the last owner passed away unexpectedly. It's a real fixer-upper, but the mountain views are excellent!
This is an old thread, but since the OP replied to it today, I will add my bit. You may want to check out some of the U.S. territories. I visited the Virgin Islands once (St. Thomas to be specific) and loved it there. I do not know about their tax policies, but I don't think you have to pay federal income tax there since their citizens aren't allowed to vote in presidential elections. The Virgin Islands are close to the U.S. and everyone who lives there has the full rights of an American citizen, with a few small exceptions. I believe real estate prices there aren't too bad, but I haven't looked myself. There are also many Americans living over there, so you won't feel out of place. Surprisingly, the climate isn't too hot. There is always a fresh ocean breeze that cools you on hot summer days. I will be honest with you and tell you, however, that what you're asking for in your original post probably doesn't exist. There is no perfect country. Believe it or not, but goods in America are priced very cheaply compared to some places and the taxes aren't nearly as high as in some countries. What you did save in taxes by moving to another country you would probably make up in moving expenses and a higher cost of living.
Sleepy_Sentry: Many countries use what is known as a territorial tax system. In a territorial tax system, foreign-earned income is not taxed. What that means is that it should be possible for a webmaster to shield AdSense (etc...) income from taxation. Belize and Panama are two countries which utilize a territorial tax system. In addition, some countries do not use the income tax. Andorra is one example of that.
Not with Australia's very high tax rates and fascist gun-laws it isn't. Let me see if I can understand the proposition here, you pay more money and you get fewer rights...
I'm quite happy that people in my country don't have the right to own guns. I'd be more concerned if there were certain states and counties where guns are less strictly controled than alcohol. Now that IS fascist!
"Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State." -- Heinrich Himmler
Panama looks cool. I can't imagine why any would want to come live in Europe... Everything here is overpriced and buying a house in some countries is becoming nearly impossible.
Ain't the the truth... To be honest, I sometimes wonder if people are not forgetting, but just choose not to remember... Here's another one: "All military type firearms are to be handed in immediately ... The SS, SA and Stahlhelm give every respectable German man the opportunity of campaigning with them. Therefore anyone who does not belong to one of the above named organizations and who unjustifiably nevertheless keeps his weapon ... must be regarded as an enemy of the national government." -- SA Oberfuhrer of Bad Tolz, March, 1933
I don't understand, are fascists the only ones buying firearms nowadays??? Last time i checked common thiefs bought firearms and a lot of them aren't fascists.
