That is interesting... as a Christian I have never ever worshiped a statue of Mary or a cross. The cross is only a representation of what Jesus did for us. This would be a cross without Jesus on it, because He died and rose again, meaning He isn't still hanging on the cross. The cross only represents the price He paid and I don't have one on me or on a wall in my home.
So if he died on his mattress bed, would the mattress be a representation of what Jesus did for you? Would churches, schools hang mattresses on their walls? Would the mattress be a representation of the price he paid? That guy worshiping the statue would say the same thing, there was once in my tribe a man who did wonderful things, and he sacrificed his life for us. Just like you he would say I know the statue is just a statue but in it I see a representation of our lord and what he did for us.
Did you misunderstand again.... I would guess that you tried to misunderstand again. Seems to be common with you to purpose to not understand something. We do not worship any object cross or otherwise, we don't bow to it, we don't pray towards it, etc.... The cross bring to my mind what Jesus did for us, but the cross never makes me want to bow to it or worship it. If you want to be stupid with your comments then while you are at it explain why muslims worship mecca and bow to it 5 times a day....
I'll explain why I missuderstood that, another time. I know Christians don’t worship the cross, but most bow to it in churches or when praying, so is that guy in the Caricature . My understanding is clear on this and based on what you say: “The cross bring to my mind what Jesus did for usâ€. Would you say the same thing about the mattress example: “The mattress bring to my mind what Jesus did for usâ€. had he died on a matress? In regards to your question: “ explain why muslims worship mecca ....†Because they are STUPID.
very intresting how people react when their religion is being disrespected. he tried to cut the funding to the museum for displaying it here you can find other people in new york talking about how they felt. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/entertainment/july-dec99/art_10-8.html
On the mattress? If He died on a mattress, yes it would bring to mind what He did. If you lost a family member to a car accident where they were smashed under a semi truck, other semi trucks would bring back the memory. So your point is?? Would I worship a mattress? no Do I worship a cross? no The guy in the picture above is a catholic, I am not sure of what all they do. The tend to have a cross with a Jesus represented still on the cross and they tend to have them everywhere. That isn't Christian or Biblical, it is their custom which I don't understand or agree with. The cartoon from earlier shows what looks like Jewish rabbis next to a cross with a Jesus on it laughing at a buddhist bowing to an idol of buddha. (I am sure something is the Jews fault in all of this, it usually is.)
You are confusing Christianity with a mixture of Christianity with decrees from a man and traditions. It's like taking pure water and adding sand and oil to it.
are you saying that statues od jesus, virgin mary, and cross are traditions? and can be remove any day now? why every churches have jesus statues on it?
Yes in most cases. Christianity if you are talking about Christ followers can be totally different than the catholic religion. And like tbarr said, what churches have statues hanging in them? (I have only seen that in movies, yet I haven't been inside cult buildings or catholic churches.)
