My list of 90+ plugins currntly installed - Oorah!!! ;-)

I went through them and surprisingly most of them I really can't live without. Some are just for fun though.

The plugins are easy to upgrade. Unfortunately upgrading to WP 2.2 is another story.

 

At least put on your blog the php execution time / number of queries used per page. I want to see how bloated that blog is now.

 

Loads fine, my index page is the one using the most plugins, so I cache it with WP-Cache. I found removing my sidebars on my post pages removes any chance that there would be too many queries to the DB. It's tradeoff, but oh well.

 

Jesus...do you really USE them all? Or are they just a fascination. I love hacks myself and I've installed dozens, but most are useless and I remove. Props for the write-up.

 

LOL, the theme I was using didn't have the code for it. I just added it now because I was actually curious myself. My biggest article had this many:

129 queries. 1.478 seconds.

Some short posts typically have this many:

85 queries. 0.576 seconds.
89 queries. 0.599 seconds.

And my uncached index page:

268 queries. 2.453 seconds.

 

All except one (the WYSI-Wordpress mentioned last). Im surprised because most of them really help. Some are just for the kicks, like my movie ratings plugin and so on.

 

Ouch! Good job you cached it. I cache my entire blog using wp-cache.

I bet loads of those queries come from repeat functions inside the plugins that call the database every time they are used. Something like get_permalink() will use a query each time its used.

 

I wouldn't know about these things, so the only way I can tell if a plugin hasn't been optimized very well is if my blog noticeably slows down after I install one, and to check the query count before and after. I'm guessing 89 queries for a post page isn't TOO bad since I've gotten over a 1000 unique visitors a day every now and then and no one from my hosting service has whined about it yet. Worse comes to worse I can always cache those pages too when the traffic really gets high.

 

Yes its bit slow. i tried his site but really it was slow in comparison to others. i use one 2 plugins and its fine with me. its only 2 weeks and i am getting approx 200 unique hits in my blog.

Duuuuuuuuude that's a shit load of plugins , i have something like 30 and i consider it to be a too much. Consider cutting a few off the list .

LOL, you're welcome, and yeah I should start winnowing my plugin list. Maybe Ill submit my post to Digg daring them to try tocrash my blog with its many splendored plugins.
