In my experience, blogs are more search engine friendly and easier to achieve higher rankings faster with. However, a more standard website (done with a content management system such as Joomla) gives more flexibility with regard to menus, submenus, and content management. If one of your primary goals is to be able to post easily and get indexed by the search engines quickly, a blog might be your best bet. But it you want more control over layout and a lot of content management options, I would recommend a CMS like Joomla.
I respect you vote for blog. Myself also love to start a blog, but the main problem is 70% of the stuff is going to be IMAGES. And this going to be our main attraction, I hope so. Images with blogs, and with this much amount, i dont feel easy with that. What do you say about that?
Thanks for your appriciation, it boost up moral to get these kind of words from a older soldier of DP brigade. Thanks a lot
Guys, I am still in the fix, what to start with? I love to BLOG But the same time we have to think about our main attraction IMAGES, which will never fit into a blog. What i am considering this time..... Have a blog as a main domain: With in this BLOG we'll provide a link to a sub-domain... This sub-domain: Where we'll put our all IMAGE presentation....... I know this is a great idea to give a start, as we have all raw stuff with us, but several things we have to finalize. What do you think about that.....
There are a lot of photo blogs out there, so the amount of images really isn't an issue for a blog. To see how it can be done, search for other fashion blogs, photographer's blogs, or celebrity blogs - all tend to be photo-heavy and at least somewhat related to fashion.
I have reviewed some of them, but still this is not the number we are looking for. As i have mentioned we'll have 70-80% images, we have near about 1-2k per fashion-show. And the no of images other people are using is very less with comparsion to ours.
I am not thinking about Images at blogs, as we have plenty of images to display. Blog will not do for us as far as the images are concern.
a Blog is best choice for a website who need a regular update. I suggest use Any blogging script, wordpress is Dad of all
A site (CMS, i.e. Joomla) would be a great way to showcase the images, and the blog would be an effective way to communicate on a regular basis. Jakob Nielsen recently had an interesting write-up on blog entries versus articles, which you might be interested in: www.useit.com
I am going to make my choice for Have a blog as a main domain: With in this BLOG we'll provide a link to a sub-domain... This sub-domain: Where we'll put our all IMAGE presentation....... Will start working on this from upcoming Monday till date this thread is open for for your suggestions....
I think it does not matter whther you create a blog or CMS as far as being able to interact with audiences. If you want a site style then go with CMS.
I would go for blog.. Search engine love blog because the content keep updating... emm.. picture 70%.. I think blog would be good because every picture you upload, you need to talk something about the picture right.. blog would be easier for you... But please WordPress... hehe.. More flexibility than blogger.com.
It would depend on what you are planning as far as updating on a regular basis. If you do not plan to update daily, I would suggest create a good site. If you are planning to update a lot than a blog gives you more interaction with your readers. I think a combination of both could work well with what you are looking for. You can put a good deal of information on the site and than blog about everyday events or updates. This seems to work well for a lot of sites and it covers both ways a site to attract people and a blog to keep them coming back.
I'm still not sure why you seem to think that using mostly images means you shouldn't use a blog. It really has nothing to do with it. If you want your latest images available first, a blog makes the most sense. I believe there are even gallery plugins for Wordpress to let you keep them a bit more organized. Just look at all of the photo blogs out there... some do pretty much nothing but images (hence the name).
I say a main page and then have that linking to your blog. Although, the main page should be nicely designed and fit the same look as your blog or vice versa.
