Starting a directory... first time-where do I start

Hey guys,

I am going to start a directory, but I don't know where to start. Its obviously my first time and Ive wanted to start one for a long time now, but where do I start.

Whats the best script, and anything else you can think of

First get a really good directory domain name with hosting (shared or dedicated does not matter).

Then get a directory script. There are many out there but I would recommend www.phplinkdirectory.com. Install the script and fill it with categories.

After that, you can start thinking about getting a customised template from a designer (I recommend Riks) and doing promotions for it. Be prepared to fork out money for it and set a monthly budget. It will not be easy at first but the rewards are well worth it.
