Hi all - so what is the latest thinking on using or not using capitals in the title tag...does it make any difference? ie Digital Point Forums - Post New Thread or Digital point forums - post new thread ?? Cheers, Giles
experimenting with this right now... seems like google is picking up the caps... to me it makes the serp result stand out... anyone else got anything to add?
A title is basically a header. As such titles should follow the rules of proper grammar for a header; that being all words should be caps except for conjunctions and articles unless said conjunction/article is the first word. (articles are short adjectives such as 'a', 'an' and 'the') So the title of this thread for example would be: "Latest Thinking on Capitalization in the Title Tag." ...or for your example the first one would be more correct as there are no conjunctions or articles in there. Would be the most correct from a literary standpoint - which is exactly what I use. JHVH forbid we use proper grammar. Conjunction junction, what's your function? Hooking up words and phrases and clauses.
Yup, deathshadow is right. Capitalize everything except those small unimportant words. Otherwise its just a sentence, not a title. And it wont stand out as well in SERP's and thus likely to get less clicks if not capitalized.
IMO using capitals in the title tag does make a difference and from my experience I can say its good for SEO..........
