With all of the bans going around and everything, let your opinion be known. Do ya smoke or not?

I personally am a smoker, and the thing is, yea everyone can say, it's a dirty dirty habit and all, my opinion on that is, stay away from it if you don't like it!

And for a lot of people, it's a nerves thing, so everyone that knocks it down, and the people who have never been a smoker, can't trash talk it because they don't know really anything about it.

Yea it is bad for you, and no, it should not be promoted through kids movies I agree with that, and no, you should not be forced to sit with a smoker if you don't want to, all of that is absolutely FINE! But when it comes to being in a bar, etc, sit where people aren't smoking, most places, if not ALL have a place for non smokers, go sit there.

Here is the real question though, who has the right over who? Should people just be discriminated against because they have a habit someone else doesn't like? I understand it can be harmful to you, but hell, just about everything is harmful to you anymore! The air you breathe whether there would be smokers in the world or not would still not be pure, still would not be healthy... so think about it, just because you don't do something, does that mean others have to follow suit, and not do it as well?

Pretty soon they're going to outlaw drinking in bars :p

I don't smoke, but I do not agree that they should be banning it everywhere.

I gave up smoking in 1987. I have not had a cigarette in 20 years and will never smoke again.
I believe we choose our path to hell or wherever and if you choose to get there with a fag in your mouth then that is your choice. However, don't blow your second hand smoke on me.
You are the one with the addiction, not me. I lost one parent to Emphysema and another to lung cancer I think your comments, attitude and behaviour are immature. Both my parents smoked and look where it got them.
Some people smoke all their lives and don't suffer ill effects but those who do have a smoking related diseases really learn the true meaning of suffering.
If I ate garlic I would not breath in your face, this is called common courtesy. Smokers need to pay non smokers the same courtesy.
Yes I agree with the new laws as your habit could kill someone else, so take it outside. If you choose to continue smoking that is your choice and if you choose to take the risk of dying the way my parents did then that too is your choice.
With all the products that are on the market now there really is no valid reason to waste your money on cigarettes. As for nerves? Come on , try meditation or relaxation while you can still take a deep breath. Smoking really does kill.

Sadly but surely I smoke, I have been trying to quit recently and going from a pack a day to cold turkey (none at all) is very hard the first day lol. I am going to give it a second try tomorrow.

    I do.
I have been smoking for 2 years now. I have tried stopping, then again it's hard if most of your friends smoke as well and they offer you a stick.
For me it relieves stress as well.
However I do not smoke so much now, maybe a few sticks a day.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, and I understand your grievance. But the question is this... who has right over who? Could they make the law the other way and say non-smokers are not allowed to go into a restaurant that allows smokers to smoke, or they have to sit outside and drink and eat...

Think about that, either way is it not wrong? Just because someone has a habit that someone else doesn't agree with, and the person could easily avoid being around that habit, does it mean one way or another someone is wrong?

As for blowing smoke in other people's faces, I have never done that, and never will, and I don't know many other people who intentionally blow smoke in other people's faces... and most of the time, not even in their general area... yes you may behind around it, but that's because YOU choose to be!

Look at things from a different perspective and not just from one... I understand why people that don't smoke and hate it don't like it, and I think if they met somewhere in the middle with it, per say separating them, but NOT forcing them out the door, would be a little more logical and not as many people would oppose it...

I really wish you good luck giving up. It isn't easy but by God it is worth it!!
No more lingering cigarette smell on your breath and clothes. No more tiny burn holes in your best shirt, or ash on the carpet, or smoke stains, and your food tastes great.

Why go cold turkey? There are patches and tablets and chewing gums that will take the edge off your cravings and make it so much easier for you. Most of them don't cost as much as smoking so make it easier on yourself.

I gave up 20 years ago and am so glad I did. I chewed Nicorette gum and it wasn't difficult at all. I missed it for a long time but I am 65 and can take a deep breath, walk 8km without getting breathless, can dance all night and am truely grateful for my health. I don't wake up coughing any more and seldom have a cold.

I really do wish you luck and truely hope you succeed. In a few weeks time you will look back and wonder what all the fuss was about and you will have money to do the things you enjoy.

I smoke and live in a state in the U.S. (Washington) where the government requires me not to do so in any public building or within 25 feet of the entrance to any public building. I personally do find this as an infringement of my rights as an individual, but also know that this law was voted upon by the voting public in this state. So, I abide grudgingly.
Since the law was put into effect by popular vote, as a citizen, it is my responsibility to abide by said law. I don't like it; but, it is what it is.

I don't smoke, and hopefully never will. The stuff stinks and people who do it stink and I can't stand to be around them because that smell makes me feel sick. I'm glad smoking is being banned at some public places. It annoyed me when I went to this community college, that alot of smokers were at the entrances(It would of been nice if they were smoking somewhere away from the entrance), and I had to go through that smoke smell to get in.

I don't mind smoking being allowed in private places and stuff. I don't care if people smoke or not, but I try my best not to be around them.

Never smoke and never liked the smell of it since I was a kid. I do physically feel sick when I have to be near the smoker so I try my best not go near them specially when they are smoking.

I don't know who has the right over who.

I just found that sometimes it is very difficult to avoid the smoke floating in the air. I sit in the cafe/restaurant avoiding those smoke then the wind changes so it comes to me. I move seat/table to avoid it again. Then after a while another smoker comes and sits near me. :(
I sit in the non-smoking area. Quite often there aren't any door/wall between smoking and non-smoking area so naturally the smoke may decide to float into the non-smoking area.

I think the smokers may have different view upon these things though.

Where I live people are not allowed to smoke where food/drink are served from last year. So, I am much happier. :)

I think no-one has any right over anyone. Just a little concern for each other would definitely help everyone, I think.

I don't smoke and I hate people sitting beside me and do their stuff, I am not against smoker but they should put their selves in the proper place. Like, there should be a place for smokers and non-smokers. Maybe you are right in the term that the air we breathe is not pure even without smoke of the cigarettes, but still it will lessen the danger. I guess you knew what are the dangers of the cigarette's smoke right?
