I have friends which are girls through internet. And even though we are very close I can't still call them as girlfriend. May be one day I can.

 

I met my wife through OkCupid. We met within a couple weeks and were married within 9 months. We lived about 40 miles apart.

And no, there's no point getting involved with someone you'll never meet. It's not a real relationship.

You think you love that person but that's not possible. You don't even know them. What you're in love with is a fantasy.

Until you meet them in person its safe to assume they're a very lonely and very old woman/man (or possibly both) and their on-line personality is highly filtered. You don't know someone until you see how they interact with other people and how they react to stresses in their life.

Not too long ago some kid killed himself after meeting his on-line girlfriend who turned out to be ugly and quite old.

Unless you don't care about any sort of physical relationship (such as say holding hands) or even spending real life actual time with a person, you should stop looking for love thousands of miles away.

It's a silly exercise in futility.

Online dating can be a good step into offline dating

but it doesn't work standalone

 

I met a girl on myspace.com (wow) then moved out together 2 months later lol, tell me that isn't crazy...

Online dating is great, but explore your options offline...you might actually get somewhere a little better if you look in the right areas

Oh and the for the topic owner, geographical (doesn't work my friend) unless you or she has a way to get to each other, realistically you're waisting your time and hers. If it's true love, it'll happen but don't count your chickens before they hatch, you might actually have all duds
