Guide me on Paging - Plz...

Can anybody tell me the meaning of following 2 terms ( Can be Seen in Settings --> directory in PHPLD admin panel ) ( I asked the same question on phpld forum but no response )

Paging: Maximum per page. (Number of links on the links pages.)
I think this is the number of links shown in each category on a single page, after which the links are added on page 2 in same category.
But does this count includes FEATURED LINK

Paging: Page groupings.(Default number of page groupings displayed.)
Dont know about this.

Also, what is the Recommended Setting for both ?

I believe this is in addition to the featured listings. If featured are set to 5 and paging is set to 20, you should see 25 links on the page total.

If you want to display links to 10 pages (groupings) (at the bottom of the page of search results for example) set to 10.

As to settings; your personal preference.

 

I think answer to your first question is yes-number of links you set per page is sum of featured and regular listings.

 

Wrong. Featured are displayed regarding of number of links on page.
Featured links destination is top of the rest. Cannot be for example paginated.

There is strange thing on phpld: total number of links showing is not equal to real number of links in category. Featured are not counted.
However can be easily corrected.

Coder missed some codes I suppose.

OK, I tried to do some changes and found that Featured links are not counted in that.
What is the correction dargre ?

 

It's for pages such as the search results or categories with multiple pages; you can set the display at the bottom of the page to show the groupings.

Look here at the bottom of this page.

Page: First 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Next Last
Listings 1 - 10 out of 63 displayed. - Total listings: 63

If the paging was set to 5 it would list the first 5 pages instead of 7.

I don't think you have enough listings for this to be a factor yet.

 

I decreased the paging links number to 5 (for demo purpose) - but was not able to see page groupings.
Offtopic - Creed - what is the meaning of text on your avatar ? Chinese language ?

 

You also need to reduce the number of links per page - you don't have enough listings in your directory yet.
