    The problem with Google is that it has become the generic term for searching. I hear everyone saying they are going to "Google" something. Its kind of like Coke and Kleenex and Xerox. You can't just replace them. You just have to hope something better comes along to take them out of the public consciousness. Remember Dogpile?

    They aren't gaining search share at all in fact their loosing search share (latest search share stats) and their search engine is trash. I have never liked it.

    As far as websites are concerned they basically randomly pick sites to be on the top 10 (that is how it seems). My main site is 25 for the company name. It is number 1 on msn and google. I have never did anything against their rules and the site is 7 years old. They obviously can't correctly provide results.
    In case you think it is just my sites I have talked with some others that noticed the same thing.

    I am trying to promote B2B sites and the advice I hear is that 95% of people use Google. That is verified by my webstats. So I don't do any promotion via Yahoo. For my own searching I use Google. Don't like the Yahoo portal here in Oz since they linked up with 7. Just has loads of advertising on it. I want a serach engine, not ads! http://au.yahoo.com/
