Hi everybody, I'm in need of INTERNET PRIVACY.
I don't really know how to say this exactly but I got this problem

3 days ago my boss asked me to send him the financial report and some business proposals of our company and the total size of all files is almost 100 MB or more.
At first I thought it was all easy because I can send it via yahoomail or stuffs like that. However I just realized that I COULD NOT, then a friend of mine suggested file sharing website like rapidshare.
But the problem is if that file is to be found out by other people and got downloaded, our company will be in great danger.

I need a website in which I can upload my 100 MB files and allow only my bos to be able to download it and NOT Strangers.

    Does anyone have any idea?

password protect the file before you upload it to a file sharing site, or burn it onto a cd and send the cd through the mail?

upgrade your email account so you can send more at a time.

Thanx Lazarus, that might work it's just that I don't really have much time to send it via mail

An overnight service would cost a fortune as my boss is in China.

About the password protect the file, I was thinking the same until a friend of mine told me that some people are really curious so if they download something and find it protected they will try to open it and to make it worse the tools are easily found anywhere with google :( ( I guess I will try this If I couldn't find a better one)

That I am afraid will be difficult for me as I personally do not believe in this email account.
Once I tried upgrade my account in yahoomail but they are still poor for uploading file especially when it is more than 30 MB.

But thanx for that idea Goma :)

Not sure how big files are allowed on gmail, i guess like 10mb so thats out of the question..

Why don't you simply split your files (with winrar for example) into 10mb each, that way you can send all the files, and maybe you should explain for your boss how to get the files (place all .rars into the same dir, and extract one of them, poff all the doc/files)

you could create a passworded protected rar file, then encrypt that with something like bestcrypt, then rar the encrypted file into another passworded protected file.

3 x the security, and bestcrypt would cost nothing, (i think..), as long as your boss has the correct passwords/passphrase then only he would be able to open it. most brute force password crackers run thru a standard protocol anyway, and can take many months, or even years, to crack if done properly. doing it 3 times would put off all but the most serious (and it would take them a looong time to crack).

do you not have a hosting yourself where you can upload the file into a redundant directory, give your boss the link, then delete it when he has downloaded it? even a freehost would be adequate for that purpose.

I believe the best way is to create cryptodisk (this will be usual file) and share crypted file. If you'll use good password nobody can open this file.

    Learn truecrypt.org as well

Hi Xenia, I used to have the same problem with you but it was just that, it wasn't file for my boss
but it was a special clip of my girlfriend and I together. Luckily I happen to find this website called www.downloadsupload.com

So to make it short I upload my file and set the files to be only downloaded BY ME and when my girlfriend is ready to download the file I changed the setting of the file to : PUBLIC
So she can download it without being afraid of anyone can download it, not even the other members of that website.
    It's fast and it's cheap ( only 1 USD)
There is the free one but I think others will download it so that's out of question.

Maybe you should try it out in order to get your internet privacy, coz it worked for my girlfriend and I. :p:p

    The Second thing is

I am running my online store and there are a lot of softwares, scripts, e-books, license sellers, or any kinds of downloadable products, unfortunately I do not have the place to save all my big files ( could be 100 mb or more!)
( As I run online store with small host server )
For people like me , the best solution for sending and keeping the softwares is via file sharing web. BUT OF COURSE WITH INTERNET PRIVACY. So I joined this www.downloadsupload.com and I save all the big files as it's fast and safe.

Try it out Xenia, only 1USD, I believe it's much cheaper than mail and other file sharing website.

Last but not least , seeing from your post, you might not have sufficient knowledge of encrypting and decrypting rite :D, So why not try this out.

    Good luck Xenia

just get a cheap webhost, and make two FTP accounts. One for you, one for your boss. Now any where in the world you two, and only you two, can access the files.

Try drivehq, it's free and it has an easy to use file manager to upload and download files. Just go to google and search drivehq, I can't post the link cause I'm a new member.
